The US experimental dive record (not SCUBA) in 'wet' hyperbaric test chambers by NEDU / Duke University is 2,250 ft / 686 m, ...not because divers couldn't go deeper, but that was the presssure limit for the chamber(s). I'm not sure about the open water operational dive record. I believe that the open-water record for SCUBA is.....1,026 ft / 313 m,.. and the open-water record for a one-atmosphere, Jim-type, armored suit is 2,000 ft / 610 m, by the USN. In 2005 THE USN Experimental Diving Unit performed manned testing of the the Divex SLS MK IV SCR, deep saturation bailout back pack in the big Ocean Simulation Facility (OSF) down to a depth of 1,000 ft / 300 m, to 'qualify' it for Navy service. There's a video clip of the 2004 testing, to qualify it to 725 ft / 221 m in my Personal Gallery, and here's a URL to an article on that testing. http://www.therebreathersite.nl/SemiClosed%20Rebreathers/UK/divex_sls_mk_iv.htm For COMEX: (not SCUBA) Scientific / Experimental record in 'wet' test chamber 2,299 ft / 701 m Operational record in open water........................... 1,752 ft / 534 m
