...But both of them will be positively buoyant when close to empty.

If you don't have additional weight to counter for that, you will have difficulties holding your shallow stops in mid-water.

Hi
Do you test your buoyancy with them full or empty?
Mikel
I only counter for one of them being empty. I figure that once the the deep bottle (1st bottle) becomes positively buoyant, I'll send it up my line. I used to do this OC trimix diving and works well for me.

So I'm only really concerned with breathing my 50% down low and buoyancy offset that creates.

Cheers

Rich

Re: Weighting with bailout

Somehow the math on this poll seems a little off.

I'm no statistician, but with 128% of the votes counted... Bush may win the election again.

32 74.42%
16 37.21%
0 0%
7 16.28%

The steel 10 I have taken down to 30bar and its fine it just hangs in the water no problem not going up or down.

The Ali 80 is floaty by +2kg but then you add a first stage which weigs in at 1ish KG. I can hold on to it at 6m no problem but empty 80s are a PITA. Hopfully id have a drop tank if i am getting close to emptying the 50 so i can send the empty tin up the line.

I started out with two steels but a steel 10 with 240bar of 50% in weighs a tun and its badly off balance with a 10 of mix on the other hip.

Steel 10 with 240bar of 18/45 floating arse up

Ali80 of 50% 210bar flat on the bottom, no first stages, fresh water.

Ali 80 weighs 2.7lb in fresh water Steel 10 weighs 2.1lb

In use
