Numbers of Different Units owned by Rebreather World members - The Update

Stuart, I looked at this awhile back and was surprised to see so many home built units. Maybe that could be reflected next time as well.

Can we get some of the Russian units added to the list rather than the generic "Other" or homebuilt? At least the IDA-71,72,76,59,64 and AKA-60 or even one category for them all "IDA conversion"

A recent post here stated that there are over 200 Optimas out now. I believe that the poster stated that he got that figure from Lamar Hires. I can't seem to locate the post now, but I believe it is from within the last week or two.

Additionally, someone recently posted that Classic KISS #287 was delivered to them.

So, we've got ~ 59% of Optima users and 82% of Classic KISS divers. (Assuming people change their rebreather options in a timely manner which I'm sure isn't always the case).

I was told by Lamar in early May that there were (at that time), just over 200 Optima's in the field.

You can even start getting fancy with rebreather ownership by geographical location etc and how that changes over time. Think that may show some interesting trends.

The total number of people in your sample was 3,109. The number of members is 7,572. That means that 59% of members have either not bought rebreathers or are diving something not on the list. How many members are rebreather owners?

KISS classic and sport account for 13% of your sample. I was surprised how many mCCR divers there are. I might have to admit that their safety record is more than a statistical anomaly stemming from a small population size...

Yeh, there are indeed many MCCR divers around, as well as many more SCR divers, who don't seem to counted at all.

It would appear that MCCR divers are somewhat looked down on or discounted, being perhaps from the wrong side of the tracks, (an american euphemism).

Having dove MCCR from the beginning, (after converting a SCR), I wouldn't dive ECCR if given a unit. So don't throw us out with the wash, we are just committed. (Probably in more ways than one!

Perhaps the profile should have classes added, i. e. SCR, PSCR, ECCR, MCCR

Well, the SCR divers are definitely less “active” than the CCR divers (threads/posts are 10% SCR – 90%CCR) :

Type – threads - posts
CCR - 2,122 - 28,612
SCR - 233 - 2,052

Kinda having issues with my posts lately ?

What I meant was:

Total APD units on Rebreather World were ~1500 which is probably ~25% of the estimated 6000 sold. (Yes Alex, I recognize that you don't agree with the total APD units sold )
Total Meg units on Rebreather World was 408 which is probably close to 100%, I guess.
