Luggage

Now I realise this isn't a true rebreather question but it sort of fits given the current airline policy on weight restrictions.

I'm in the market for new a new suitcase. My hard shell Paklite suitcase has cracks through most of its fasteners and needs to be retired.

I'm after a tough light suitcase that conforms to the modern environment. What is out there?

Hi Steve-

What the pros use:

LuggageWorksOnline - Luggage, Duffels, Flight Kits, Rolling Bags, Airline Discounts

I use the 105NG. Expensive as hell and worth every penny. Built like the proverbial brick outhouse. I abuse the hell out of mine and it just doesn’t break. Everything else- including Travelpro- is just wannabes.

Re: Luggage

Whats it for?

Luggage for normal luggage applications such as clothes, shoes, sundries etc.. I'd go with Filson, again expensive as hell but totally indestructible, have a couple of their bags, the duffel with inline skate wheels for lots of heavy stuff and the large outfitter bags a good carry on.
And if it ever breaks, free replacement.

Rebreather wise, never have flown with my Dolphin, if I do I would go with a Pelican Case.

Re: Luggage

I bought an old rigid Samsonite at a garage sale for ten dollars and my Prism fits in there with the bottles. It doesn't weigh much either.

The stormcases/pelican cases are nice but they are oversized and weigh a ton. Be prepared to get whacked for oversize/overweight charges. I borrowed a rebreather from a friend when I got trained in Roatan and left it in the stormcase because it wasn't my unit, and got nailed for $200 in oversize/overweight fees.
