Meg suit inflation...

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Although I'm not diving tmx with my meg yet I would like a bit of advice regards suit inflation. From OC days I've a Luxfer 1.5ltr alu cylinder. My question is anyone using this size cylinder attached to the backplate? I'll most likely carry all my bailout left side. Is the cylinder a bit big for mounting on the backplate?

Any help or advise much appreciated guys!

Hi,

I do just that on my Inspiration (which is mounted in a Travelframe). I only used it a couple of times on OC, but find it more comfortable on CC, as there is less pushing it against my back. I guess it all depends how tall you are and how broad your back is. I'm 18st and 6' 4" for reference. If you did it comfortably on OC, I can't see why it wouldn't be comfortable on CC, though there may be some difference between the Meg and Inspiration (though I can't imagine what).

There are few threads on mounting inflation cylinders on Rebreather World - with some neat ideas.

Cheers,

Hi Phil,

I've misled you a little... When diving OC I used to mount the suit inflation on my twinset not the backplate. I'm not the biggest fella (5 11, 14st) so I might need to use a smaller cylinder. Either way I'll try it in the next week or two and see..

On my Meg I used to use 13cuft (1.5L) attached to the Dil bottle

Now I use 6cuft (0.8L) on the BP nicely tucked away

Re: Meg suit inflation...

I just use dil (if air) or a bailout tank when diving trimix. Less fuss and bother. All of my stages have LP QD hoses that fit my wing, Drysuit and Coulter Lungs.

Re: Meg suit inflation...

I have 1.5l argon on LHS and torch canister RHS of the backplate. Hardly notice them, except when the wing is on (nearly) full inflation.
