Other possibilities that somewhat resemble the gray reef in your area of the Indo-Pacific include the bronze whaler and bull sharks. Bulls and bronze whalers have much broader, stubbier snouts.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: What shark is this? Based on some of the online identification keys/guides, I'd say it was either a bull (Zambezi) shark or a grey reef shark. They both can have very similar forms and coloration. The deciding difference (visual observation) between the two, AFAIK, is the small eyes and heavy body of the bull shark. The perspective of the image prevents making a clear judgement on that in this case, however. The dark edges of the second dorsal fin and the anal fin would tend to point the finger at the grey reef shark. That is, of course, unless it's shadow in the picture. That said, the dark edges (because the image is not crisp and clear) may point also at a dusky shark. I may not be helping at this point. It is an interesting exercise, though. Thanks for the fun. If it was a dusky, Rogeringebo should be stoked. It would represent a new species record for Thailand. If that is a remora on it's left pectoral, I will admit a bull sounds like a goo possibility. I have never seen a gray reef with a remora.

Hi! can't be a lemon shark since the dorsal fins are definately a different size.. body looks too stout and eye to far forward (but this can be from the perspective of the picture) for a grey shark.. most probably a bull shark..I wonder what kind of shark this might be? My guess would be Grey reef shark, but we had lots of other suggestions as well like blacktip, small bullshark, lemon shark and a few more.. Any experts out there?
