Multiple failure mode :(

So I rig up the unit for todays dive in the usual way and I go through the usual motions and.....

Bugger the ADV is creeping gas....

Fix that and...

Bugger the ADV is leaking at the swivel joint

Fix that and...

Bugger the rear dump valve on the wing is bleeding badly

Fix that and...

Bugger the HUD has droped an LED

Fix that and...

Bugger I am loosing diluient....

Fix the ADV again....

And it passes the Neg test first time

I was in the garage from 4:30pm till 8pm sorting that little lot out for todays dive. Its the first time I have suffered any problems with the YBOD at all except a low battery warning. The unit is exactly 12monts old in July. Actualy I am quite impressed with that as its been arround the world a bit in the last 12months and its definatly been bashed arround a lot on boats.

Got to dive site 9:30am dive canned

Hopeing for better wether tomorow.

ATB

How did you solve that problem. mine creeps intermittently.
How did you get to the "innards"; it looks like a special tool is needed at least for the APD version

Was it the ADV leaking or the ADV shutoff valve? My experience is that the ADV shut off supplied by AP can cause the negative to fail as it doesn't have a firm seal. We used one from another source (longer and thinner) and it worked fine. In speaking with other people, it seems the AP ones are known for this problem.

I found that my ADV used to make my unit fail a positive test, because it would "dry-up" underneath the diaphragm. I take mine apart once in a while and re-lube under the diaphragm, and make sure everything is nipped up nice and tight.

AS you can see I use a pair of circlip pliers to remove the locking ring, once the outer cosmetic plate is removed by hand.

Here you see the order that the innards come out. I clean and lube underneath the diaphragm and this has stopped +ve pressure leaks in the past very well. -ve never seems to be a problem here, I guess because any vacuum is pulling the diaphragm harder onto it's sealing face.
