![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: thinking of giving up Hi Clive, People who know nothing or little about Rebreather's, make assumptions based on "what they hear" and have their feet concreted into the ground in terms of their ways are people who will contribute little to the progression of diving. They will also miss out on some fantastic dives which can't be done OC or are logistically challenging to say the least. You have "thought outside of the square" to go CCR now "think outside of the square" to do the diving you want to do. Ditch your club, contact other local CCR divers, find Rebreather friendly boats. It's worth the effort. If your in Melbourne, want to dive wrecks on Rebreather or OC then SCUTTLE on this list is the man to contact. The others are just cattle trucks and will always disappoint in terms of tec diving.

Unless I hop on a plane, all my tek diving is solo. In order to have a buddy to do rec CCR diving, I had to purchase another CCR as well as training for my buddy. Add the above to the fact that I have to live on a little island surrounded by the monstrous Pacific Ocean. Terrible, I say! ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: thinking of giving up well lads, as my title goes, thats whats on my mind at the mo. not feeling sorry for myself but feeling quiet bad. ever since my thread, MOD1 COMPLETE WITH CEDRIC, well as all of you know how that one goes, things have gotten worse. now since i came back from trainning in thailand, my club dosent want to know, REBREATHERS, REBREATHERS, NO REBREATHERS, ive turned up at a number of dives since and was told, sorry clive have no one to dive with you, people look at me now like i have the pox.. in the last few weeks ive bought, a megaldon rebreather, an otter brittanic dry suit, vr3 amongst others and for what. i am heading away to OZ in august but christ i didnt think things would be like this before i head. my diving officer gave me a great appaulise when i gave a briefing on my unit to my club, " bail out ", and all so i thought it would be good. but no one wants to know, so im posting this to let people know thats all, best wishes, clive Hello Clive, sounds like you're hanging with the wrong crowd, seems like there's plenty of CCR divers in your neck of the woods here on Rebreather World. Nothing like spending time with a bunch of scowling naysayers to make one feel out of wack. That being said, you may also be dealing with a bad combination of coming a great distance very fast-non tech OC to CCR-and a case of monetary post partum depression. Don't worry, a few great dives will set you straight. I sat out diving for a year saving up for my CCR and training. I sometimes forget what I'm doing working OT and spending so much time planning my overseas trips. Then I hit the water and all the good stuff comes back in an istant. Hang in there, -Andy |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: thinking of giving up Check the Rebreather World Map. There are at least 12 members (I didn't check to see if each was a rebreather diver versus a member that might now actually dive a rebreather) in Ireland. (There are lots of other divers if you expand your circle a bit in Europe, too.) Start to correspond with them, and arrange for dives. Here in South Florida, we have formed the South Coast Rebreather Underwater Bounders Club (SCRUB), and we continue to grow with rebreather divers. We are getting to the point where most of us dive together on three out of four weekends. We are putting together a rating system (which we will put up here when finished) for shops and boats. So, if they are rebreather friendly, we will make sure to reward these operators with our business. Someone has to be first at everything, and you are among the first in this case. There will be plenty of others coming soon. Don't give up, get started. ![]() |
