![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Back mounted LARV and White Sharks I was watching a show the other night on animal planet and show was on White Sharks and their cognitive reasoning. They had on a South African Diver (I think.) He was wearing what appeared to be a LARV rebreather but it was on his back! This diver was a researcher/photographer on the white sharks. In one scene it shows him with a mako scooter and this LARV on his back swimming (with no cage) with multiple very large white sharks. ![]() So two quick questions- Is this a standard Mod for the LarV and who is the freaking nut on the underwater scooter playing with multiple white sharks in open water? Damn that takes BALLS! ![]() Oh, this thread is open to all kinds of opinions and thoughts. Just go easy on the German girls. ![]() Andrew |

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Dräger has build LAR's in just about every possible variation. I remember seeing pictures of a dorsal version (backmounted).

![]() | I saw that!!! It is indeed a back mounted lar5, I was doubting myself thinking it might have been a black dolfin, but it probably was a euro lar with a blue tank if I remember correctly. Also, I saw the cover of a book with an illustration with 2 combat divers in a boat wearing the lar on their backs, kinda funny.

| digital nomad Current Rebreather/s: | Hi all, I seriously doubt it was a LAR V (although I did not watch the film). However, on a back-mounted LAR V you could not be able to read the pressure gauge or reach the purge/bypass which is located on the center of the shell. The Rebreather was more likely an Atlantis/Dolphin. A more exotic alternative would be the Draeger LEBA 54 - the military grandfather of the Atlantis. This one looks just like a back mounted LAR... ![]() | There is no law of nature preventing divers from repainting Draeger Atlantics or Dolphins black. I have heard of divers repainting Inspirations black. |
