AZIMUTH CCR what do you think of it

Hello, I would like to have some feedback on the Azimuth rebreather in CCR mode. Up to now I have been diving my home made rebreather but recently I came across a brand new CCRat a very attractive price. Has anybody here converted it to a fully closed CCR ?

Philippe Gerin has done an Azimuth CCR conversion .
And afaik Matty 'MHD' is working on one.

Pretty solid basics to start with, good scrubber.
With HH controls a lot like the Oh Tooptima, but nicer.

Hi Joseph.
As Stefan mentionned, I have transformed my Azimuth into a CCR with a Kiss O2 valve. Very nice to dive, especially with the ADV I could add at the time. This ADV is not available any more unfortunately.
Today, if I had to do it again, I'd do the same except for the Drager Oxygauge that I would change for a HS PO2meter or the new Kiss displays in addition to the VR3.
I was very happy with the unit: excellent trim, PO2 very stable, VERY good scrubber, excellente DSV. It's a very good unit except when traveling/flying. Then be ready to pay for extra luggage. That's the main reason that lead me to the Classic Kiss. Note that I do not regret it.
Best
Philippe

Philippe, do you have any suggestions for the adv and is the unit only available with manual add only?
How about the scubber, I shall be using it in fairly warm water, what sort of time does it give in CCR ?

To my knowledge, the stock unit is only available with manual Diluent add Valve. But I didn't check in a long time, there could be an after market one now. Alternatively, you could find one of Bob's ADV and have it cloned if you know a good machine shop. It works with an Aqualung LPO reg mecanism.
Anyway, it works just as well with a manual valve. After all, Inspiration divers did it for a long time before Bob and then APD came out with an automatic one.

I used to put the same time in CCR as in SCR mode in cold water after I had insulated the scrubber with a 5mm neoprene sheet. This is not needed in warm water.

Or you could just buy the machined part from Oxycheq (http://oxycheq.com/rebreather_sales.html) and fit the Aqualung LPO ...

Nope, this one is a replacement T for the Inspo only. No T needed on the Azimuth and off course the threading is different. But the main body is the same size & shape. It's not practicle to start from this one and modify it.
