![]() | California Boat charters refusing rebreathers divers Hi I've been hearing stories that there is a growing trend with California with scuba charter operator's who are now refusing to have rebreather divers on there boats do to past fatalities and liability issues. Has any one heard anything about this growing problem. WestMarine |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: California Boat charters refusing rebreathers divers I don't know about Ca. but here in Fl. Miss Conduct (Conrad Nix) out of Pompano will not take out Rebreather divers. Don't know how true it is but apparently a local instructor staged a massive CF on one of his charters and he now wants nothing to do with Rebreather's. I guess the moral of the story is to dive responsibly and this type of thing won't happen. Other than the Great Escape, what boats can you confirm do not allow rebreathers onboard? |

![]() | Re: California Boat charters refusing rebreathers divers Hi I'm not sure what exact boats are not allowing rebreathers on board a friend of mine who I haven't been able to touch base with yet was refused and he was told that the charter association out west has a growing negative approach towards us rebreather divers. I will post more information as it comes along but thought maybe some one on the forum may have had some information on this. Have a great day Westmarine |

While they are mostly an OC operation they are quite familiar with our needs, were very helpful in helping us gear up. Gave us plenty of room. We made an extra effort to not be a pain in the ass, to take care of ourselves for the most part. We did not get to do really extended dives but they did help us time it so that we were the first in and last out. Average time was 60 minutes.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: California Boat charters refusing rebreathers divers Hi The Great Escape is the most visible about it, actually having made an icon with an inspiration photo and a red circle and slash, placing it on their main web page with the statement that rebreathers are not permitted.I've been hearing stories that there is a growing trend with California with scuba charter operator's who are now refusing to have rebreather divers on there boats do to past fatalities and liability issues. Has any one heard anything about this growing problem. WestMarine There was a thread on a socal diving board in the past week that two more boats had followed suit. One of the boats mentioned I am familiar with and I would be very surprised if they had many rebreather clients. |
