Bill Stone on the telly

UK viewers may have seen a familiar rebreather designer talking about the DepthX project on BBC 2's Horizon programme last night. I taped bits of it as I was busy designing a unit myself.

"F**k me that's Bill Stone on the telly" was heard by my neighbours at about 9.15 last night. He's now responsible for the burning of 4 slices of bacon.

Very clever, interesting guy, but he really is the stereotype of "rocket scientist".

Hmm - I once was given some paint flakes from an Ariane rocket to test - always like to use it in talks by introducing it with the phrase "now for some rocket science".

Believe me, that if I had a robot that could explore caves while I sat in the pub then I'd use it. That's the next project - a ROV to see if the choke in Pwll-y-Cwm needs clearing. Requires four PC cooling fans for propulsion and a housing for my web cam. Does anyone know how far you can send a signal by USB - I don't think it would go as far as the snug in the Drum & Monkey?

I just finished reading his book 'Beyond the Deep'

Picked up a signed copy in the US.

Anyone that is into expedition diving will be able to relate - its a great read.
