I believe to show that no disability is too great to overcome if given enough determination.

Congratulations to Mark and the team! You have achieved something that majority of sighted divers haven't yet...

Why not!

Congratulations, to be honest I cannot even comprehend doing a dive to the bottom of a swimming pool blind let alone 100+

Be interesting to "hear" how the PPO2 buzzer works?

for setting the record for the deepest CCR dive for a blind diver at 103m on a dive in the Blue Hole in Dahab, Egypt.

Thanks to the whole dive team, without whom it would not have happened:

Mark Elliott

Adrian Shenstone
Nick Barron
John Rudolf
Helen Mutter
Paul Jackman
Project Manager
Congratulations to Mark! What an achievement!

Paul,
Can you please give us some insight into the details of the dive (the ppO2 question has been asked already) - how was it done? Dive plans? Computer/tables? Gear mods? Support? Communication? Emergency arrangements? etc. This is a truely remarkable dive and I am sure that besides me, there are others who are curious about some of the special arrangements, mods etc.

There is a lot of publicity for Mark's dive - there has been TV and media coverage and there is more to follow. I think Mark and Paul are both writing it up and I suspect trip reports will be available soon.

It was a remarkable dive, and the most remarkable bit for me is watching Mark service his equipment. Setting up an Inspo by touch takes some doing!

Hi

John is right that we will be writing things up in the future.

Mark's CCR is unique. The Inspiration VI unit was specially made for him by Ambient Pressure Diving. Schedules are not unusual, Mark runs a runtime slate in Braille. Using a talking dive computer as a D-Timer.

Here are some pictures on the day, with thanks to Adam Butler

I believe that you can see some of the TV pieces by following

(Select Brighton > News) (I have not tried this)

Thanks for the link, Paul, and kudos to Ambient Pressure for supporting the project.

If you follow Paul's link and set the town to Brighton, you'll see three short reports.

For the train-spotters amongst you, there is a variety of equipment from Classic Inspo's, Visions through to a Boris which all appear, albeit briefly.

Quite a lot of hardware...
