![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Here we go again,The Halcyon HID is dead again The color temperature fix on the 21W is recent there is conflicting information even in the same thread. IIRC the color temperature of the 24W is lower than the 21 or 18W for video. Pg 6 of the following thread has latest info on the 21W: http://www.direxplorers.com/dir-kit-...ighlight=salvo |

![]() | Re: Here we go again,The Halcyon HID is dead again OK time for me to appear I think ![]() Thanks Mark for the recomendation. ![]() The "old style" bulb on the Salvo was a "warmer" temperature of light, not far off daylight temp at 5600 K. The new bulb throws a temp of approx 6500 at 21W which gives that nice blue-white we all seek. There was indeed some confusion from dealers with the "old" range of 18 and 24W lights, so Salvo decided to split the difference and go 21W. It is indeed the ballast which controls the output, which is why some people were confused by the bulb being the same in 18, 21, and 24W lights. Obviously burn time is affected a little by the Wattage, so that might have a bearing on what you want to do. I'm not even going to go into the "reliabilty" discussion of WA bulbs v Brightstar, because IMHO that has already been done to death here and elsewhere. [Unashamed Sales pitch on] Salvo are still the only manufacturer who will gaurantee Bulb and Battery for 12months. [Pitch off] If you want to talk lights then please either PM us here, or email at enquires@divingniknaks.com or phone us on +44 (0)121 707 5783 or Skype us at Divingniknaks. We will happily talk lights all day long, as a few peeps on here already know ![]() HTH

HID200 is a great light ... diving one since it has been itroduced. Has 3 powerlevels however the lowest powerlevel sometimes gives problems switching off in water below 4 degrees. However restarting it doiesn't give any problems.Might buy th Metalsub Hid 200 in stead... Rodge Also the D2S car bulb seems to be indestructable !! Regardless of that I can realy recomend it |

I've been using 2 Kowalski Xenon torch's for about 4 years now & have never had a problem with them, & they are both still on the original bulbs. In that time they've been to various destinations around the world, been dropped on the boat deck & smacked against side-mounts, etc. I think it's fair to say that they've proved their worth. So much so, that I'm looking into upgrading to the umbilical version this year.I carry it like a baby, wrapped in a gay sock, wrapped in towels,in a f###ing babyseat with safetybelt on and still the damn thing keeps on braking... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Here we go again,The Halcyon HID is dead again Had a 100w halogen Metalsub umbilical which I swopped for a 28-50w HID Metalsub umbilical last year. Both torches beautifully made and totally reliable. HID bulb is known to be very tough. We have 6 Metalsubs in my technical group and everyone v happy with them. 50w HID = 200w halogen so at max power it is one mother of a light! Get 110 mins burn on max power using medium battery pack. Mike's are UK importers of Metalsub and I've been buying kit from Mike's since October 1994. Recharging is external using the same type of connector the lamp head uses so no way water can get in and no need to dissemble torch to recharge. Charlie London, UK |
