Rigs are great dives and attract tons of life. Cousteau called them "Iron Reefs." The Gulf of Mexico is much better off for their presence. Its a win win win win. The sharks get to live, we get cheaper gas, get to dive on the rigs plus we get to tell OPEC to GFY. Don't get much better than that. |

Its on thing to kill any animal outright- instantly; even if I do not agree with it. But to herd them, grapple them out of the water, and drag them down the street while they are screaming and their flesh is being scrapped off; is sheer torture and disgusting behavoir for human of any nationality. Andrew Dolphin slaughters are going on actually. Unfortunately, they haven't triggered the massive public outcry that they should have. There are countless videos; here's an example:

Whilst I deplore the slaughter of any animal in a cruel manner it is the sheer scale of the slaughter of sharks that is truly horrific; I would go so far as to say it is bordering on genocide. Having worked as a fishmonger for 10 years and actively worked to change fishing practices for the better I speak from experience having witnessed the marked decrease in catches. And this is from a "managed" fishery with minimal poaching. Cheers, Ben. |
