Mcafee Problems

I was in TDS and had noticed the problem of getting here on Rebreather World, and just recieved a new Laptop. Well...

Yes the Problem is Mcafee, I just got a new laptop and for 3 days have tried to get to Rebreather World. I disabled everything in Mcafee and still no luck, I called them and they want me to PAY to speak to them on a brand new machine. Well I removed it, and now Im in. I will have a little talk with Gateway about the problems and see if they can get through to Mcafee.

Re: Mcafee Problems

I had the same issue... the fix was to move to a shareware antivirus... 'webroot spy sweeper'.

both McAfee and Norton have become extremely intrusive with regard to other programs and access to the Internet...

even as a wanta-be IT security professional (masters program) I couldn't take it!

Re: Mcafee Problems

Had the same problem. I had emailed Stuart a while ago, and we couldn't figure it out. Mcafee help line was unable to access it either. There solution...disable their software! I did, and now no problems.

Re: Mcafee Problems

I just switched from McAfee to Panda for that very reason. So far so good.

Re: Mcafee Problems

On my first desk top I had Norton.
After a year I had to buy the license to download the updates.
I'm dutch so if there is something for free count me in
I had a hard time to delete Norton from my pc and the first thing I do if I have to buy a new computer is delete wathever antivirussoftware is installed and get a free one.
On my laptop clamwin is checking my mail and zonealarm bounces the incoming enemies

Re: Mcafee Problems

I suppose (hope) there will be a trusted site list, hidden somewhere in that crazy piece of product that I have stopped using for ages.

Re: Mcafee Problems

It is not specifically the McAfee Antivirus engine, as that is what I use on one of my systems. It must be one of their add-on suite programs for home users. Would you guys mind replying with your versions of McAfee software so I can check it out?
