![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ots Ffm And Comm Stuart, The mask is a "Mantis" sold by OTS, equipped as you see with the "Buddy Phone". As a note, it is not equipped with either the telescoping mouthpiece bit or an oro-nasal cup.

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Stuart, as Rob pointed out the Mantis is distributed in the US by OTS and this one equiped with comms. It's the least expansive FFM they carry, and the layout is much like the Scubapro FFM. Three connectors, in the center for main gas source, one on each side for backup gas and comms (PTT button and mike). No oral-nasal cavity, division is below the nose. Equalizes like a normal mask, no levers or plugs. The entire mask is quite a bit smaller than the Scubapro, so it works better for small or narrow faces. It comes either in black or clear slilcone. Haven't used it yet, but the mask quality feels less than other, at least the gray plastic bits. Five point headband is fine. Enclosed a cropped picture, the Mantis with a 2nd stage installed next to OTS' surface station. The frame of the clear one is entering the frame next to it.

![]() | We have sold a few for monkey divers, I mean recreational divers. Just have to make sure zip/cable tie on the mouthpiece pipe is TIGHT. Same issue as Scubapro FFM, users will DIY swapping it out for their mouthpiece and not get the tie strap tight enough. 2nd stage pops out, panic, etc. Mask is for sale next weekend. |

That would be why the picture of the mask in the first post looks as if it is almost full of water, right??

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What do they go for new and 2nd hand? I have a dive coming up (or a wholr lot of smaller dives) that it would be great if I could have 'back to the boat' comms. Way less mucking about. Can do that with this mask? What is the range like?

Those Mantis (or similar style) masks used to pop up all the time on ebay for peanuts.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Steve, You really don't want the Mantis mask. If you want an FFM with comms, contact OTS and have them set you up with a Divator Mk II (commonly called an AGA). Much more durable, and comfortable, and can later be fitted with a DSV. Try: http://www.oceantechnologysystems.com/ Ask for, or e-mail, John Hott, who appears as "Mtndiver" on this Board. Cheers! Rob

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks Rob. I have had the Ocean Reef Neptune II recommended to me as well. The recommendation was by a local OC scientific researcher. Can these accommodate CC DSVs? I know SFA about FFMs. On that note could someone type out a beginners guide and explain why certain features are worth having please?
