Re: TX100 on a Panorama FFM

I have come to the conclusion that in the event of a bailout, I will breathe open loop until I have the atx100 in my hand with the gas turned on, and then will switch out the loop DSV with the OC reg, I have done this in practice a bunch and it works just fine. I dont like the idea of leaving it hooked to the side P port as it feels funky with the extra hose and head swiveling resistance.

with the Rebreather version of the mask, your breathing loop is seperate from the mask volume unless you bleed air through your nasal passages on purpose. I bump a bit of air in the mask on the way down through my nose and then pull it back out and push it into the loop on the way up, other wise the mask leaks at the top and water drips into my eyes. I vent the loop through the OPV on the exhale CL by a slight roll to the right, which vents my drysuit also.

You probably will get some CO2 buildup by breathing through your nose on bailout OC, this is a good reason to swap the DSV with the OC reg if you need it.

Totally love the mask, its the most comfortable I have felt diving ever. I have never had a mask be totally watertight, ever. This is awesome. the view is limited down, otherwise its great. Now i just need to find some lenses to fit so I can focus on my handsets better. Oh the perils of age...sigh.

hope this helps paul

hello all, thankx, I'll have to do some testing :-)

btw, I must be lucky, I always have the mask perfectly tight, no problem at all

I do

Quote:
questions I have:

when breathing the loop, don't you easely loose gas by slightly exhaling trough the nose: I mean you can not put any overpressure on the mask once the TX100 is fitted (but you can easely when only the loop is fitted)

I havent experinced this - but if you do you can increase the mask purge spring resistance and/or restrict the Tx100 exhaust (or block it completely and use the mask exhaust only)

Quote:
is there no risk of higher CO2 content: when on bailout (closing the loop and breathing from the TX100), you breath in and out the mask, as there is no 'nasal cap' in the CCR-panorama, so you have a big volume of exhaled gas in the mask, that you will inhale again by the next breath?
Correct - which is why to me its a temporary bail whilst I remove the Rebreather from the main port and plug in bail gas reg.

Yes, or have whips on all your stages that you can plug into a p-port fitting 2nd stage.

I carry a normal back up mask and would eventually bail to that if I needed to use more bail tanks/ someone elses than the ones Im carrying that have adapters/whips.

On my bailout cylinder regs, I have an spg, standard OC reg, LPI hose and a short pigtail with a parker face sealing connector that its mate is attached to the apex tx100 p port reg, so I have bailout for myself, and my buddy, plus a whip to plug into the CCR, a spare mask in a pocket too. hopefully have all the bases covered. The apex reg starts off on the deep mix, and if i have to use it gets moved over tothe deco mix at the appropriate depth.

Re: TX100 on a Panorama FFM

about the optical distortion :

I tried an interspiro with a curved lens in the swimming pool : very bad distortion ! impossible to use for diving.
