FFM with BOV - What's the Market?

just wonder what the market would be for a full face mask that had user choice on second and external bailout/switch block.
larger field of vision then the M-48b and the ability to conect to all the current Rebreather's offered on the market out of the box.


what would you pay?
what other features would you like ?
whos your daddy ?
any other expectations that would be assumed from said product?

Would I or could I ?
Looking at the current quality FFM's available, AGA, K-M and Widolf with BOV,
they all cost in the $ 1,000 neighborhood, give and take a few hundred.
(We give, they take )

Would be nice to have a quality option for less than that.
Also depends on 2nd stage used.

- nose pocket for equalizing
- comm port
- 5 band harness
- bite piece inside mask
- swivel for gas supply hose
- choice of angle for BOV (straight = range of motion, downward = photo/video)

- broad face seal to cover as many faces as possible
- you mentioned the field of vision, I the quality of mask and 2nd stage. Both important
- low volume if possible

I liked being able to breathe through my nose. I also like not having something in my mouth. However, being able to do this means there is more dead space and some people worry about the increased risk of CO2. What does everyone feel about this?

(DrMike - the POD looks very interesting. Do you use yours with a bite piece/mouthpiece?)

A SuperMask/M48 with a larger field of vision sounds like a favorite wet dream.
Make it transparent and with a yellow "easy to spot" frame.
(It already has spaces for connections such as microphone and drinking straw.)
A good "surface air breathing valve" option would be good for when you surface among stingy/nasty things.
(Otherwise you just take of the lower part and use a snorkel.)
- This, with a good rebreather pod, and I might consider emptying out my wallet.

I've been thinking about a FFM mask for a CK.

Approx £500 (GBP)

• easy to equalise
• good fit for a broad range of faces
• secure fit
• ideally I'd like to be able to breath through my nose and or mouth, but in reality, I'd be happy with a bite piece to reduce the dead space and C02 buildup
• Good field of vision
• Good range of movement
• Easy to bail / BOV
• ability to breath air at the surface
