Hey Guys -
It was real fun meeting Adrianne, John, Steve, and Richie. I didnt have the chance to dive with them as I was with a OC friend, but it was good to meet you guys.
This was a great write up, thanks.

Q: How do you get your picture to come out so clear, mine always have alot of the particles floating around?

Attached is a pix of a milling machine the machine shop in the Spiegel, and me inside the Eagle.

Terry
Hey Terry - it was good to meet you and Scott, as well ... didn't mean to inadvertently leave you out of the honorable mentions. For the rest of the readers, Terry was helping to hold off the KISS onslaught by being the sole Hammerhead CCR diver on the trip.

As far as the backscatter in shots when there is a lot of particulate in the water, in addition to the angle of the strobes like Adrianne mentioned you also want to have the strobes themselves as far away from the lens as possible. That's why you see people with ridiculously long strobe arms - this keeps the light from reflecting off of the particles straight back into the lens. Generally, the more expensive the camera system, the further away the lighting gets from the lens. Point-and-shoot cameras with onboard strobes are almost worthless in anything other than gin clear water.

Hope to see you in the water again soon.

Re: Trip Report: Upper Florida Keys 04/18 - 14/20/2008

During the last Florida S.C.R.U.B.' Keys Trip back in January of this year, which I unfortunately missed, some pictures surfaced after-the-fact of our very own Richie (Divereb) and Steve (Dvrstev) in a compromising position while on the Wreck of the Speigel Grove. I was able to find the picture, which includes a caption added by John (JcDesign97):

"Oh yeah, there's one more picture that I forgot to post. Steve was probably hoping that it would stay forgotten , but for those of us on Silent World IV just remember - what happens on the Spiegel Grove stays on the Spiegel Grove ..."

Well, it looks like during this past weekends activities in the Keys, the boys were back action; however, this time on the Wreck of the Eagle instead of the Speigel Grove. Now had I not witnessed it for myself, I might not have believed it, but as they say, the proof is in the pudding, and once again, we have the pictures to prove it!
And if you think Steve is an innocent victim in this whole melee, as was my initial impression, think again, because following the debaucherous act, I also personally witnessed Richie and Steve giving each other a big high five. Fortunately, I had my camera handy to document it!

Shame has once again been brought to a Florida S.C.R.U.B.'s event!

Thanks Adrian I appreciate you bringing that pic up again and setting me up for follow on rear attacks by Richie. Hey it was a pleasure diving with you, John, Terry, Scott and even Richie. Looking forward to some follow on dives. Nice pics too. As soon as I find out about the dives this weekend in Pompano I'll call you.

Steve, you know how the Florida S.C.R.U.B.'s roll! Plus, if this weekend is any indication, we are all at risk of prank attacks from Richie!

Here's a couple of pictures of the flag on the stern of the Speigel Grove that I just found among my pictures from this weekend.

More great pics Adrian! Just an FYI, though (since you already commented how big the SG is), that crane cab isn't on the stern. It's about midships looking over the well deck ... there's about 200 feet more ship after that before you get to the stern. So now we have to go back so you can see the rest ...

And yes, there certainly was more debauchery on this trip - it must be something about the Keys air that just does it to Richie. Steve's new heavy-duty reinforced PVC butt plate wasn't even enough to stop him!!

Hi Tom,

It was nice meeting you on this trip! Sorry you weren't able to do the rebreather thing with us, but you were still able to get some nice diving in nonetheless!

Adrian

Re: Trip Report: Upper Florida Keys 04/18 - 14/20/2008

Sorry to have missed the dive guys, but duty calls in Richmond until the end of the month. Looks like you all had some great times!

One of those flags was planted by Scott (padipro) and I a couple of years ago. I believe it is the one that is all nasty now, but I'll have to confer with Scott on that. I can't remember which location we put it at.

I'm looking forward to making the next trip!

Eric
