Tough call! the water temps been approx 73 F lately, but Sunday, the air temps reached about 90 F. I dive wet and seem to bee dealing with it ok, but that's not to say that I do not begin to get cold near the end of the dives and somethimes wish I were diving dry. If you're going to be doing 4 dives a day, you may get a bit chilly at times, especially if the surface interval is short and you do not get the chance to take off your suit and warm up between dives, but if it's warm outside, it's a lot easier.

The bottom line is, we each have out own comfort levels and I don't think anyone can answer that question for you - May just have to flip the Quarter on this one!

If you have done any local diving over the past few months in the NE then I would say 5mm. You have built up some tolerance.

I was cave diving in FL a month ago. Water 68-72 and I was fine for 60-90min dives with 5mm. I live and dive in PA so going from 41F bottom temps to 75F is like taking a nice warm bath.

Re: Upcoming Trip: March 21st, 22nd & 23rd

I have to agree, most of us Floridians are whimps for the cold water. Some people feel the water is too warm in the summer months here, but I'm personally a big fan of 86F water for diving!

Erik, here's the local weather forecast for Friday and Saturday - So far, it's not looking too bad:

FRIDAY
EAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 FEET OR LESS NEAR SHORE
AND UP TO 2 TO 4 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A
MODERATE CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

FRIDAY NIGHT
EAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS BECOMING SOUTHEAST 5 TO
10 KNOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT. SEAS 2 FEET OR LESS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A
MODERATE CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

SATURDAY
WEST WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS 2 FEET OR LESS.
INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

Since I can't easily coordinate other divers from here, please call ScubaTyme directly. We're on that boat all three days, two outings a day (we might scale down but that's what we're shooting for right now).
Erik, I just spoke to Enzo (www.scubatyme.com) and Friday's trip is definitely a 3-dive trip departing at 9:00AM. He wasn't absolutely sure what we are going to dive, but he seemed flexible to do a wreck and two reefs or two wrecks and a reef. It looks like for the moment, it's four of us, because I just booked a spot for Don, and myself of course. The boat departs at 9:00AM, so we need to be there by 8:30AM.

Any other S.C.R.U.B.'s joining us on Friday - Looks like they're calling for calm seas?

Not sure about Saturday and Sunday yet, but I'm definetely interested in doing some more diving, so I'll keep you posted as I make any subsequent decisions.

Oh man... might I recommend the Rodeo or Captian Dan, followed by the Tracy, then a reef...

That would make for a sweet trip:

Captain Dan, Tracey, Reef Drift, then Flannigan's for some Baby Back Ribs!!!!

Not sure what's Scubatyme is planning for Saturday and Sunday, but I hope to speak with Enzo sometime today to see what his thoughts are on the weather for Friday, because the forecast is less than pretty; however, I'm not going to rule out anything, because the forecasts have not exactly been on the money the last few weekends, so I have made it out and the seas have been calm, even when it called for rough seas! I'll keep you guys posted once I learn anything, or if any of you speak with Enzo first, let us know.

Here's the latest forecast for the weekend:

FRIDAY
EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 5 TO 7 FEET. INTRACOASTAL
WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS.

FRIDAY NIGHT
EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS BECOMING SOUTHEAST 10 TO
15 KNOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT. NEAR SHORE...SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET SUBSIDING TO
2 FEET OR LESS AFTER MIDNIGHT. IN THE GULF STREAM...SEAS 3 TO
5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. SLIGHT CHANCE
OF SHOWERS.

SATURDAY
SOUTH WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS BECOMING SOUTHWEST 10 TO
15 KNOTS IN THE AFTERNOON. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A
LIGHT CHOP. CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

SATURDAY NIGHT
SOUTHWEST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS BECOMING NORTHWEST
5 TO 10 KNOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT. SEAS 2 FEET OR LESS. INTRACOASTAL
WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. CHANCE OF LIGHT SHOWERS.

SUNDAY
NORTHWEST WINDS AROUND 10 KNOTS BECOMING NORTHEAST IN THE
AFTERNOON. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP.
SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT SHOWERS.

SUNDAY NIGHT
NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 10 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET.
INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT SHOWERS.
