Ah, excuse me, you maybe in the Northeast; we are residents of the Mid- Atlantic (below Mason-Dixon line).

Ted
Hey, us filthy Northeasterners would love to dump Richie off on you Mid-Atlanticers; but the Mason-Dixon line separated DE from MD, also ... so unfortunately we're stuck with him. Although he may be confused about that himself given his member name - DiverREB

When you guys stop diving in freezing quarries and have visibility greater than 50 feet, then I promise I'll say Northeasterners in a softer tone, but until then, you're still Northeasterners!
Alright Adrian, you got me there! (although visibility greater than 10 feet would be more appropriate)

-------

All joking aside, it looks like Adrian and I are definites for diving Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Adrian maybe not Sunday). We should be getting into the Keys Thursday night.

Hey, born & raised in and around Philadelphia.... Eagles season ticket holder for over 25 years, much prefer Gino's over Pat's, and the REB in diverreb happens to be my initials.... so yeah.. I'm a filthy Northeasterner!

10 feet of visibility?!? Here's an idea, give your 2 week notice...pack up your stuff...rent a U-Haul...load it up...kiss the family goodbyeand head South, because that's not diving my friend! If I were in that situation and couldn't move south, I'd either do the Jim Jones/Guyana/Cool-Aide thing or just put your gear in storage the 351 days of the year I wasn't on a dive-related vacation and take up hardcore drinking!!until the next trip, which is the route I suspect most "Northeasterners" have chosen!

Adrian,

Here are two reasons why I love diving in these here Dark, Mirky, Cold, Northeastern Waters:

One was 13 Pounds & the other a bit over 10 Pounds. I stuffed the 10 with my world renowned incredibly delicious lobster salad. That was a few years ago, and the guests at the New Years Eve Party, that enjoyed the bounty of my Dec. 30th dive, are still talking about it.

The last time John & I deep fried some Manatee it just wasn't that tasty!

Richie, those are some very sweet bugs you got there!!!! Alright, I'll conceide the point that the whole lobstering thing is one legitimate reason to dive in the Northeast: however, how many lobster has John caught in those quarries lately???

Throughout the years, I've caught many many lobster in South Florida, but non quiet as impressive as the one's in your pics. However, since making the transition to closed-circuit, even though I have my official State of Florida 5-Year Lobster Harvesting License, it's my understanding that the Florida has deemed us reabreather divers not worthy of harvesting lobster - Dam Florida politicians!!!

That's because only the newborn calfs are the best for deep frying, because they are the tenderest and therefore the tastiest! Should've checked with a native Floridian first for recipe advice, before you went and attempted to cook our state dish on your own!! When you're down in the keys in April, just ask the nearest wildlife officer where you can find some newborn manatees for deep frying and I'm sure he'll be happy to assist you with that!!

Whoa, whoa, whoa - now you've hit upon a sensitive topic (to some of us filthy Northeasterners) that needs clarification! Some of us hardier souls dive the frigid quarries during the off-season because that's our only option for keeping the skills sharp; and we don't like being out of the water for months at a time. Once the boats are running and the weather permits, we're out in the ocean as much as possible; or of course we travel and do the easy diving down south. And as far as lobsters go, some of us will push a good size bug out of the way if he happens to be sitting on a nice shiny thing ...

I'm definitely looking forward to the deep-fried baby manatee, though - what do you recommend as far as dipping sauces??

I've found that either Bald Eagle Salsa or Nassau Grouper Dressing works best for dipping with the Deep-Fried Baby Manatee, and if you add a side of Sea Turtle Slaw with that, you've got yourself a meal - Yummee!!!!
