Trip Report: Hydro Atlantic Wreck 02/24/2008

We certainly had our share of "fun."

You know things are not quite right when you see the ball descending below you and you are running out of line above.

They did us a favor, because I've always found it so much easier to comfortably drift in the current underneath my SMB while holding onto my reel, rather than having to hang onto the anchor line in the current, jon line or not, with a bunch of divers; however, a bit of advance notice to the fact that they were going to untie the line while we were completing our stops would have eased the stress level for some in our group, but I suppose we must always assume the possibility of this occuring without notice in the event of an unforeseen topside emergency.

Sounds like it was a overall good dive with a little Murphy in there. Good to see you did make the trip back down south Howard.

u folks should have boat try staying tied in to wreck and use a jon line-a bunch less stress in my opinion. but what do i know?

J,

That was the original plan. The boat unhooked to chase something they thought was a diver off the line.

By the time they got back, five divers on the line fleecing in the current had dragged the ball down and they couldn't recouple.

Murphy was there, for sure. The drift deco for the last 10 minutes worked out fine.
