That same old picture is back. You think they would learn but obviously not. eBay Item #330169074015. This pic has been used numerous times in scams. I even love how he is from Drager Dolphin USA - not that is humor. I will bet it is a hijacked ID, no transactions since 2000.

Let the ultimate bidding wars begin!!!

Why is this one a scam? Admittedly, there doesn't seem to be a reserve and the seller only joined on Monday, but the description looks reasonable and he's willing to accept PayPal, which doesn't usually seem to be a feature of scams.

Cheers,

Re: Scamalamadingdong #330169074015

I asked for a contact number so I could come and view it. This is the reply I got -
Thank you for your interest. The item is located in Madrid,Spain and will be delivered from here upon request. The reason for selling it on ebay.fr is because i purchased it from there. The item is in perfect working order, hasn`t been damaged, has no scratches. My primary payment method is PayPal but i am unable to use it for the moment because it was stolen and now i`m working in recovering it.My other payment method is money transfer payment or IBAN transfer (bonificio bancario, virement bancaire, banküberweisung). You can request the details of the bank in your next email. The shipping originates from Madrid,Spain and will be done with UPS or FedEx.Shipment is generally done on the day after full payment and will come insured. If you find these informations helpful and you are willing to purchase please be kind to provide me with your full name and adress in order
to calculate delivery charges.
-
Unable to receive payment by Paypal - duh, surprise, surprise !
Registered in France, but item is in Spain, duh !
-
I even told the guy I would be in Madrid on business - give me your number and we can hook up and have a look see.....

No reply to that offer

Ah, in that case, no further argument. Hmmm, Paypal not working. On Ebay.com, user in France and unit in Spain. Completely agree - it's a scam.

Cheers,

Have a bid on it ! See how high it can go before ebay kills it off.
You can comfortably put 4000 Euro on it now - but you still won't be the high bidder cos I have a bid way over that on it.

Hey Gentleman,

It is real nice what you guys do to protect other people from being screwed! Thanks for doing this. Until I found Rebreather World I didn't know that majority of the inspos on ebay are scams. I have found some my self(one with SDS decals selling from the UK..Huh), but there are way too many, unfortunately. I was just wondering if these sellers could turn your own weapons against you. Lets says an Inspiration goes for $15.000 or 10.000GBP thanks to you guys. Ebay doesn't notice anything illegal. Than the seller reports you as a non-paying bidder, which could have some real serious consequences. Even tough he never had the item, he could go and get one for $5000+ and make you purchase it for the final price. I have been using ebay since 2002, and never had any problems, beside a retaliation negativ feedback out of 127 auctions. I have worked for the US Army for 11 years and a lot of americans told me that there are companies in the US which would take all the legal actions(foreclose your house or belongins) to get the sellers money, since you legally won the auction. Honestly I don't know how true it is, I just wanted to make sure that non of you gets burned by one of these scams. I'm sure that there are americans on the RBW, so they minght be able to confirm it, or say the opposite. Sorry for writing too much.

Hi Roland,

It's a very good point and the reason why I don't bid along when people push them up. They could be real or hoaxes, but I don't want to end up on the hook for 10k or 15k for something I already have.

Cheers,

Hey Roland

I would bet many dollars that they are pulling your leg. There is no "well you won the auction" they can leave negative feedback and report you to eBay as a non-payer, but if they are scammers, they wont [they will move on].

There is no binding contract to eBay, it would be almost impossible in court to prove, I could use a plethora of excuses, "it wasnt me, my kid did it" "logged on with the wrong ID' "my ID was hijacked" "hit the button by accident" tons of excuses, besides it would cost more than that to even go to court. Lets not forget they are scammers in the first place and dont have the item anyway.

I had a girl scam me for a laptop last year, she even professed to give me a refund when I was unhappy, I got nothing back for my money besides a dead laptop. She even changed her ID afterward, eBay did nothing at all. I finally charged it back on my CC. She even had the audacity to leave ME negative feedback [my only one buying or selling] - in my opinion eBay is not what alot of people claim it to be. I try to stick to smaller niche sites for buying used items [Rebreather World, DecoStop, ScubaBoard] they do a good job of policing themselves.

Just my 2 cents
