| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | Paypal Experiences I'm in the final stages of selling my rebreather and I'm using paypal for accepting payment. I have used paypal in the past with no problems at all. This is the biggest transaction that I will have used with paypal so I thought I'd do a little investigating to ensure its safe. I found out that there are hundreds of people out there with paypal horror stories. I'm interested in hearing some more hopefully positive experiences? As well if anyone, maybe someone with some law experience, could pass on some wise words of advice before this transaction occurs. It would be much appreciated. Scott |

![]() | Re: Paypal Experiences I don't know of pay-pal advantages for the seller except expense. I have needed pay-pal before when a seller was dishonest in the representations that they made. Pay-pal was a big help for me in that instance as a buyer. Generally the funds are in the posession of the seller before the goods are shipped. So if the cash (or other funds)is in your hands all the liability of an internet transaction fall to the buyer to ensure the fairness of a transaction. If your credit card is linked to pay-pal and they rule against you in a disputed transaction. I have heard that they can charge your card for the amount that is disputed. Although i cannot state this as a fact. Why sell on e-bay with such an active market here and possibly Deco-stop as well? Phil

They were very responsive and quickly credited the account. As far as you specific transaction goes. I would plan for the following.. 1) You will be hit for various fees as a "seller"... 2) You will be hit even harder for fees due to the fact that there will be Euro and or some type of currency conversion taking place... Good Luck! Mark |

Personally, PayPal still owes me ~$2000 when they locked my account about 5 years ago. And I have been trying to get it unlock eversince... And it was just a "standard security check" after I have been using the account for ~4 years before that with 10x that amount went thru.So be careful...

Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Paypal Experiences despite the fees I have had no problems getting funds etc.while my amounts were not quite in the same amount as phi's I have used it several times as well without incident. What I'm going to have to do is:a) Make sure the buyer is fully aware of the deal. ie condition, shipping/duty chg, and what is included in the deal; b) Keep my credit card and bank informed that no money is to be taken from my account from paypal without my written consent; and c) Wait until payment is cleared and in my account, ensure the buyer is aware of this. It would be a nightmare if the buyer were to reverse the charges after my rebreather is delivered. It doesnt seems that the is any protection for the seller with paypal. The last time I used paypal and paid with my CC it took about 10 days for the transaction to go through. Does anyone know why that is? Scott |
