![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Paypal Experiences The frustrating thing is that the package seems to be held up somewhere along the way, USPS sayes it's most likely stuck in Australian Customs but it's out of their hands and they tell me Customs tell them nothing. I wish I had done a little more research on which shipping service offers the best foreign tracking and guarentees...anything you can do to make for a smooth hand off is good especially when the buyer can be left empty handed for an extended time, which gets a little nerve racking for both parties. I have some parts stuck in UPS Customs Brokerage for a week. UPS has handled is particularly badly. I will try to never use them again for international shipments. The US International desk can only tell me what I can get from the online tracking. The only thing they can say beyond that is that, as it hasn't moved in over 24 hours, is for the shipper to start an "investigation" on their end. The UPS customs brokerage team is horrible. They generally don't answer their phones at all. If I'm lucky enough to get an answering machine I don't get a return call. I've spoken to two people who promised to call me back and they never did. Now the phone just keeps ringing. It cost quite a bit to use UPS expedited international shipping -- and you don't get the service for it. I pretty horrible experience with UPS. --p |

I can vouch for Phi also, he prepaid me for a camera system that he knew he woudnt get for a couple weeks and trusted me to split the shipment up some to him and some to a service center for upgrades. Thanks Phi. If it helps anyone interested, I vouch for Scott too, I know where to find him, but trying to beat money out of him would only find me with my A$$ seriously kicked. Have you seen that guy? ![]()

![]() | Re: Paypal Experiences I have had one bad experiance with paypal, but it was low value. Paypal has the ability to reverse charges to your account and they often go on the side of buyers. I sold a low value item £10 on ebay and the girl who bought it didnt read the description properly and then when it wasnt what she wanted she asked for her money back. I checked her reasons and decided she got exactly what it said on the description and she couldnt have it. She complained to paypal, and as they didnt get a response from me in 10 days (I was away) they said she was right, debited my account and credited hers. However my account is still -$13 and they have no way of getting that money as asking for it nicely doesnt work. They cant take it off my online cards as that would be illegal. They could take me to court but theyd lose as I never autherised the transaction. My advice in using paypal is not to keep any money in the account, if your a seller make sure your account is problem free before accepting the cash and withdraw same day. Then its to late for them to do anything. Better yet use bank transfer, it costs about £10 rather than 4%. The only use for paypal is if the buyer wants to pa on CC in which case they should pay the fee for this conveniance. |

| Gadget guru extrordinaire Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Paypal Experiences I think overall paypal is safer for the seller than the buyer, with the exception of fleabay, where they claim to guarantee up to a certain amount. Of course when you are talking rebreathers, well, you probably aren't going to get enough protection, unless you are just selling a Dräger Ray for really cheap. The bad experience I had with them was just having my verified account, and someone hacked it. Someone in Vietnam had a Xbox 360 sent to them (keep in mind, I live in the US, and I've never been to Vietnam, nor do I know anyone in Vietnam). It took Paypal over a month to refund my money, and somehow in the process, they somehow cancelled two other of my transactions that were legitimate, so I got nasty grams from sellers I had bought equipment from. After they refunded the money, and I put it back in my bank account, Paypal locked my account. Now, effectively I can't use that bank account to buy Ebay or Paypal, because that bank account is linked to that account. Even if I create a new account, I can't link it to that bank account. It's a real pain in the butt. |

Yet they still have my ~$2000 locked up - Thieving bastards! True, I had to use my hotmail account to create a new one. I'm half tempted to call my bank and have a new debit card issued with a different number, so I can use that account, and not have to fill up my credit card.![]() |
