![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What can the medical community do for Tech Divers? All, There is a thread going, over on The Deco Stop, that is titled "What can the medical community do for Tech Divers?" It includes a poll and basically is asking our opinions about what areas that we would like to see Diving Medicine spend research dollars on. It appears to have the attention of Dick Vann, the Director of Research for DAN. For those that are interested the thread can be found here. Look it over, cast your vote and if you're so inclined, post your thoughts. (Note--I realize that cross posting is often frowned upon. However since things seem to have developed momentum over there, I thought it best to just point folks over there, rather than try and start a similar discussion here. 'Twas not my intention to fly in the face of the Rebreather World rules.) Brian

Tis an interesting thought - I am not sure if it is a medical thing but I would certainly like to see much more formal testing on Deco Algos myself... **EDIT** TDS insists you sign up to view the content so if you dont want to it goes like this... There a lot written, and a HUGE amount discussed, but very little in the way of real 'clinical' trials, comparing algorithyms, especially with mixed gases. Most of what you read and hear is still anecdotal, or theoretical, NOT proven.

Perhaps I'm double-dipping as I voted the same here as I did on TDS - for the same reason. While I was torn between several of these, I selected post-mortem analysis. All too often the causal factors around a diving fatality (rebreather or not) go unreported. We as a community need better data on fatalities so that we can enhance current accident prevention methodologies and increase the survivability of diving accidents. I think that all of the other choics would be contributing to that goal. |
