I try and fill out doors now to let the fine dust blow away. I do notice a dried out throat feeling at the begining of breathing the unit. I tend to have to take the mouth piece out during the pre breath and have some water. I have always wondered if I had just sucked in all the dust small enough to past through the scrim.

You should try Spherasorb the granules are a consistent 3-4mm it packs better and there is hardly any dust at all

I was told to avoid this for deep dives or to run the scrubber with 25% less duration if I had to use it ??

Are you using it in a YBOD? if so then to what depths / temp /run time

797 has 20% more CO2 absorbence per kg.

Sphera however claims a lower WOB due to its packing characteristics.

I've never found a real answer here, only a lot of personal opinion and anecdotal 'evidence'.

Caveat emptor.

The last I heard was that the Spherasorb is +- 10% less CO2 absorbance per kg which for most dives isn't really a factor, as you say say Zak no real scientific evidence, I will vouch for the WOB being superior to 797 the granules pack more uniformly because of the shape. Perhaps we could get Intersurgical to come up with some hard data.

Cheers,
Chris

Question Chest infections...

Any of you guys had chest infections? If so, what did the doc prescribe, and how long did it take to clear?

Just wondering...

Wreck,

Classical scientists tend to disregard reports from the field as "anecdotal evidence" as if that made them worse than useless. Reports from the field, if carefully noted, are actually the field testing (crash-test dummy) work that the scientists need to validate things in the "real world" versus the mad scientist's laboratory!

Cheers!

Just wanted to say thanks to all who posted.

I fitted some modified inspiration scrubber scrims to the cannister of the kiss. Two weekends diving have passed and I am as clear as a bell, no sniffles or anything.

Many thanks to you all!

Hi everyone,

I get a head cold after every Inspo Rebreather dive too, but mine lasts around a week. A real PITA!
My nasal pasages (but not sinuses) completely block up the evening after a dive and then drips like a leaking tap...

It seems Jamie B solved his problem by using different scrims in his Meg?
I use an Inspiration.

Has this Beconase stuff worked for people with these symptoms?

TIA
