Thanks all for your replies, much appreciated. It would appear that I can get a unit fairly sharpish, so just need to get the money together now.

Is there any money in the "Man Wh*re" business?
There's money big man, but only for the young and fit. You scored 0/2. I am working towards 1 out of 2 on an apprenticeship.

Good to see you back. I was running out of people to take the piss out of, everyone else seems to have got the hump or taken up knitting these days!

Oh, and get a proper rebreather. All this yellow box lark, you want a unit like mine

Good News Phil !!

I had mine closed two years ago now and have not stopped
diving since...

Do you feel any differently ? Or differently when you are exercising
then pre closure ?

I ask because I found that I had what seemed to be a little more
energy when exercising.

Hi Bob, I don't know yet, being a bit nervous of it all I decided not to do anything strenuous until after the checkup. I intend to get my pushbike out after the weekend and see how it goes. Will let you know.

Thought that might bring you out from under your stone!

How are you doing? Can't believe you have been upsetting anyone! Such a nice boy.

I want a proper rebreather, not a toy one held together with Gaffa tape and zip ties.

Hi Bob i had mine closed just under two years ago and that's one of the biggest differences i've noticed. I've found to get from sloth to being able to run 5km non-stop (i am not a consistent trainer over the long term) was much easier and quicker transition since i have had the device. ie it feels easier to reach a certain level of fitness/activity level. Now i just have to work on consistency of activity!
I went back to diving as soon as i had my 1 month (public health system meant actually at week7) follow up to confirm that it was still closed.

Re: PFO Closed and now got the "All Clear"

One small word of caution. As a cardiologist who closes PFOs for a living (actually to pay for my CCR diving habit), the devices can take about 3 months to completely "endothelialize" (close over with native tissue) so the usual recommendation is not to dive for 3 months after having your PFO closed. Just my 2 cents.

Regardless, glad to hear everything went well and you are going to be getting back into the water!

Doug

Gaffa tape? Zip ties? I'll have you know I've discovered jubillee clips now, they'll hold things together better than both of those!

Push bike? Who's it made by, JCB?

Let me know when you're back in the saddle and you've found a decent unit to dive. Would be good to drop in sometime. I can even run a rebreather review to make sure you remember what all the buttons do.

Thanks for the information Bedo' , I just was wondering if this was all in the head or not.
Interested in getting more opinions from people who have had the procedure completed
on them.
