Komati Springs has an open hole to 54m, and a cavern and cave system from 9m to 186m. Water in the hole reaches up to 26 degrees in summer, and never drops below 16 degrees in winter. Visibility is 10 – 20m. There are grids at 5, 10 and 30 meters. Dives are never cancelled due to weather conditions.
The area is surrounded by the oldest mountains on the planet dating back to 3.7 billion years. It is the oldest well-preserved real estate on Earth. The dive site is surrounded by a game reserve, so hearing Jackal and Lions in the night is very common. You might also bump into Wildebees, Giraffe, Eland, Impala, Duikertjies or Koedoe. For birdwatchers we have over 250 species, including the rare Bald Ibis, so bring the binoculars, bird books and cameras.
