Standard Mixes or Optimised for each dives...

Hi Guys,

Wondered what you do - pick from one of your standard mixes eg 20/40 or 10/52 etc or do you choose a mix thats optimised for the dive your going to do. eg o2 content depends on target depth and He content depends on what your want your END to be for target depth...

Down to 90 metres 10/52, only for ease really.

After that a mix that will give me a PPO2 of 1.0 on the bottom and a narc of 20 metres.

Don't like narcosis, narcosis kills.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Same as Dave, except 10/50 down to 92m instead since it is a wreck that we dive. Past that, 10/70 to ~115m (max of KISS first stage).

10/50 is easy to mix and top off. Also easy to compute PO2 when diluent flush. However, if inexperience than must exercise caution on/near surface.

Deco is 50%.

Most of the deep stuff around the south coast is 60 ~ 70M so I tend to run 18/45. I don't like hypoxic gasses unless they are necessary.

If I know its going to be a max of 40m, I prefer 20/40 (better for SCR and deco options). Mostly 10/52 (to 80m, cos its easy to mix and flexible for depth). Deeper stuff, optimised dil.... normally 8/70ish.

Choice of dils is partly driven by bailout scenarios.... which differ when your SCR mode isnt as easy.... or you're inside something where your bailout is more critical (Cave).

I aim to be using dils that balance flexibility of range, with effectiveness of bailout options (both hyperoxic and scr).
