![]() | Re: Newbie and buying stage/bailout bottles With that set up he wouldn't need the Rebreather... A question Russ you say 40cf are good enough. And that his buddy has gas since the buddy is on OC what about carring gas for his buddy it works two ways from where i'm coming. ![]() I love steels for OC as you can over fill them but doing 140ft ect I still just use a AL40, if you start thinking about doing 200 just add another 40. Since you are diving with others who are on OC I would imagine there isn't a dive that a 40 would not be sufficient for bailout. Russ I'm a OC diver and very intrested in SCR/CCR diving. But i get very afraid when I read about people relaxed attitude to caring enuogh bail-out. Everybody who have hade a incident knows that the SAC goes way up and I for one whold never relay on a 40cf for bail-out even on a 40m dive, but thats just me! And the way i see it is that if you don't want to take enuogh bail-out for a dive or think it's to many/heavy tanks, don't do the dive. Nothing down there is worth risking your or others life for just my 2 cents Best regards Bjorn Q Last edited by bjornaow : 17th December 2006 at 19:45. Reason: spelling |

If you have to use the bailout the dive is over and in this case he or his buddy can use the 40 to go straight to the surface. For me the 40 is enough as I know my buddy and I could get to the surface if we both were breathing on the 40. just my $.02 Russ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Newbie and buying stage/bailout bottles Russ, I would seriously do some gas planning for bailing out at 35 metres due to CO2. As a rule 100 litres a minute is not a silly figure to use as I have said recently in another thread. I have had to bail on such a dive, 30 ish metes, no deco. I had a 7 litre pumped to 250 bar, if I had a 40 cf I may not be writing this now. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Newbie and buying stage/bailout bottles Russ, I would seriously do some gas planning for bailing out at 35 metres due to CO2. First off a 40 is the most common for mod 1 courses which is 130ft and 5 mins of deco... I see using the 40 to get to the surface as a worse case scenario, other than a full flood theres no other reason for me to get off the loop, in a co2 I simply use the 40 for sanity breaths in which case my consumption will drop, and also why I dive with a ccr buddyAs a rule 100 litres a minute is not a silly figure to use as I have said recently in another thread. I have had to bail on such a dive, 30 ish metes, no deco. I had a 7 litre pumped to 250 bar, if I had a 40 cf I may not be writing this now. anything deeper than 130ft I will use more than just a 40, and if I was alone I would also prob use to 40's simply because I have them and I don't notice them in water Russ Last edited by Russ : 17th December 2006 at 20:38. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Newbie and buying stage/bailout bottles sorryA 7 litre was only just enough, I surfaced with about 20 bar and that was pumped to 250 bar! Any thing over 35m now will will see an 80 on my side. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Newbie and buying stage/bailout bottles In your case I would have stayed on the loop... either do a flush, or use the 40 for sanity breaths, do scr ect Using an 80 is fine but for my bailout planning a 40 is sufficient for a 100ft dive. Either way I'm glad you made it through your incident and I appreciate your input. Russ |

The best thing to do for CO2 is get off the loop not SCR, and unless you have the 40 plumed into the unit your 3 litre isn't going to last long.Using an 80 is fine but for my bailout planning a 40 is sufficient for a 100ft dive. Either way I'm glad you made it through your incident and I appreciate your input. Russ Hope it goes well. |

![]() | Re: Newbie and buying stage/bailout bottles Goal to photograph U-Boat, anyone know of one this shallow? Olympus Dive Center - HomeCheck out these guys in North Carolina. I went diving with them last summer and they were professional. Rebreather friendly too - there were a couple of Kiss divers on board that were always first in and last out. They didn't mind waiting for them to get a little extra bottom time in. We dove a U-boat while we were there. If you're lucky you can get in a couple good shark pics while you're there! They have some resident Sand Tigers around. |
