I'll stop beating the horse, it should be tender enough to grill now I guess we killed any chance of a meaningful discussion continuing here...![]() Thanks for your posts everyone. /GKAM PS. You never know; you might be delayed on the deeper portion of the dive. Okay, that's my comment there, and I will get back to your question. Each of your deco gases have a positive and less positive aspects. So, I would go with something in between if I had the ideal choice allowed: 50/25 + 100. I know a number of people that have started using 50/25 instead of EANx 50. They say that they feel better after the dive than they do by using EANx 50. I never did try it since I made the switch to CCR by the time I thought of making that switch. However, it sounds like it makes good sense. Second, I don't really like the idea of switching to a fairly high nitrogen mix at deeper depths while lowering the Helium content so much at the same time. I would prefer going somewhat shallower on back gas, switching then. Last edited by ScubaDadMiami : 17th October 2006 at 15:01. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Deco Gas Options I haven't gotten around to trying HE in my deco gasses yet. Though, I understand why it's being done. I would probably do an 18/40 and carry an 80' of 40% and a 40' of 100%. I like the 40% a little better than 50% since I can move to it at 100' vs. 70'. Of course you could say the same for 32% at 132'. For me the 40% is a "happy medium", It allows access to another gas a little deeper and a deeper switch to elevate the PO2 earlier and at 20', the PO2 isn't quite as low as it would be with 32% (but it's not quite as good as 50%). Dives would be planned on Vplanner cons +3. I may also then throw that into Decoplanner and add a few minutes here and there to smooth it out. Dave |
