Get bored on deco?

I thought you all would like to know that this MP3 player and enclosure can withstand 250ffw (50 feet past its limit). I, uhmm, inadvertently, tested mine recently.

It began to play at depth but I never heard it. The speakers were most likely pointed away from me. Others were very surprised to hear U2 - "Vertigo" playing in the cave and probably thought they were having a bout of narcosis. LOL

After being notified upon surfacing, we checked the player for the expected damage. To our surprise, there was no damage (MP3 player worked fine) and there was not even a drop of water in the housing. Yahoo!

That's good news!

Actually, I've just taken delivery of a small MP4 watch. Yup, full colour OLED screen! I now have ten episodes of DangerMouse on it and assorted MP3s!

It "just" fits in the iRiver case and needs a cable converter to fit the headphones - am working on trimming everything down for a good fit.

So, the first underwater deco-movies!!!! HURRAH!

No proper control over volume or playing yet, so as Freef suggests, it goes on and that's it. Since there is lots of faffing around ripping to .MPEG then .SMW, there is plenty of opportunity to super-impose deco info!

I see this as the logical upgrade step for the X1 - roll on v2!

Recently, some of us have been watching our own movies taken while on the dive (L&M Bluefin with viewing window). It's in HD?

Man, it sure makes the deco time pass quickly.

Ours (Amy and mine) have survived dive to 325fsw, and lived to play during the deco stop

I recently bought a 1GB 90m one and have only been able to test the housing down to 60m. However it cost a lot more than the price paid in the original post

The only complaint I would have is that the amplifier is so powerful you need to have the volume right down which means any static or other imperfections in the recording are also amplified and fairly noticeable.

My father also complained that it sounded "tin-ey" but that doesn't bother me as I am not much of an audiophile and will listen to audio books mostly.

I used mine today with an ipod shuffle. It worked rather nicely. For the first 15 minutes i felt like in a movie, it was a surreal experience

. Then the feeling slowly faded. But although there was music, i could still hear my OC buddies around me breathing etc... And I rely primarily on sound for my buddy monitoring.

They're now making cases for ipods rated to 300 ft.
Kind of pricey though.
