![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello there, I´m a bit curious abbot heliox as diluent, how many out there are using it on a regular basis and what are your experience? What are good and what are not so good? And any suggestions where to find related material to read on the subject. And what mixes do you normally use? And a other question what do you normally use fore diluent? Personally I´m using either 10/50 or 8/60 (filling He first and just top with air) Because it´s so simple to fill. /Z ![]() |

Your thoughts on why you chose to use heliox (no N2) and how things have gone and your new thoughts since you started using it. It is quite a jump/leap in faith with regards to deco planning considering what little info is available. Thanks in advance. |

Hi I use 10/50 for all my dives within the 50 meters, 8/64 or 10/90 for all the others, it depends on the availability . And this during the 250 days for year then i dive for fun, course, job and Xpedition. Regards Aldo

Your thoughts on why you chose to use heliox (no N2) and how things have gone and your new thoughts since you started using it. During some years I made dive with trimix around 80 to 110 meters, for two or three time I got bend at surface (little bend in right shoulder), and more often I feel some pain in arms if I made works after dive (pull up the anchor for exemple). So I decided to use heliox; since I use it (more deeper and in water more cold than before) I've not got bend and "work pains" have disapered. Probably it's not proof for everybody, but for me it's enought.Heliox have other advantages, it's very easy to mix, re mix and re re mix. ![]() Quote: It is quite a jump/leap in faith with regards to deco planning considering what little info is available. With classic (haldanian) deco model, that's right heliox deco obligations can be heavy, but with VPM or RGBM they stay acceptable.

Tx18/50 >Heliox 18/82 Can you say me wicth program do you use for calculate the deco? With the programs that i've, the diference is "BRUTAL" Regards Mikel |

I have been interested in heliox for a while and like the previous post have found the deco going through the roof just by removing the N2. I think it was Barrie that told me he dove/dived/breathed it using a nitrox setting on his VR£? What do people use for heliox deco please - heliox in VPlanner for example, or a fudge like the one I mentioned?

Just a thought, but how appropriate would it be to use a trimix for descent on really deep dives, but immediately flush with heliox for the ascent? The benefit being getting N2 out faster and keeping the helium lower (narcosis aside) - but would there be a problem in doing this? Is there a reaction to consider, along the lines of ICD but in reverse? I can't see what, but would be interested to hear from someone who's done it/knows about this...

The hélium benefit is fast elimination on ascent. But its also the problem so you need very slow ascent. So perhaps a good choice proposed by some deep cave divers is using trimix when you meet different depth changes in your dive and heliox in "normal" situtation. Using heliox on deco bailout is certainly safest than nitrox, and can be used after any other gases ( used on trimix DCI ) |
