[ Im not trying to defend or attack anyone here just genuinly interested as someone who has been trusting his life on one for the past three years !] Maybe running a poll here would be a good idea of what people use here and what sort of dives they are carrying out with their computers .......just a thought Simon Don't run it at zero conservatism.. Its popular because for an intergated He computer there are only 2 choices the Explorer and the Vr3.. If you wanbt to do po2 and have full switching control again only the explorer and vr3.. If you dont care about manual switching you now can add the Cochran, if you dont need po2 then you can add the nitek He.. There arent lots of choices... From personal experience, when i have tried to run the vr3 at 0% I felt like crap afterwards.. If I follow an RGBM or even a 10/100 GF profile, I get out of the water alot faster thhan a proplanner/vr3 profile and feel great.. The shape of the deco cureve makes all the difference... Alot of people I know that use the VR3 add in a very slow ascent to compensate for the lack of regular deep stops.

I'm fairly certian this is how most of us use our VR3's. The VR3 will credit you with the slow ascent.Cheers Rich

![]() | Which Deco : VPM. Which Software ?? There is another source for VPM or VPM-B computations : http://www.hlplanner.com/default.htm Its main drawback ? Well, it happens to be free. The basic version don't deal specifically with CC deco, the upgrade is on the working table and was to get out a couple of weeks ago . Nevermind, you can already use this one.

You will see the shape is nice and smooth and the shallow stops are reasonable. Remember that Pro Planner was using a classic Buhlman model that has a relatively shallow first stop and then fairly long "tails" at the 6 and 3 msw range. For the air diluent dive the total time is about the same but the shape on the bubble model is much cleaner. For the trimix diluent dive the bubble model cleans up the shape with deeper ceiling and then shortens the shallow stops. Register for a DEMO version and play with it yourself. It is extremely CCR friendly. Cheers Thks to all for feedback |

On a slightly different note, but Woz pointed me in the direction of JPlan which is a VPM implementation for mobile phones. You can get a limited version for free, and registration costs £20. I wish I'd had this last year when I was in Gozo and planning a slightly deeper dive than usual, as I didn't have my laptop with me (f'in weight allowances) Sadly it's only OC, not CCR though. Janos
