Question for HS - RGBM users

I have been using the RGBM algorithm (HS computer) for more than 1 ½ year, both with my previous pSCR and now with my Meg.
From the beginning I have been padding the shallow stops (quite heavily on the deep dives) as comparing the profiles with other algorithms I felt that they were too short.
From what I hear from some other divers using HS- RGBM they do the same.

Are there any divers using the HS-RGBM with out padding the shallow stops???

I generally don't pad the stops unless I want to make sure my HH clears..

I generally use setting 1 in warm water, 2 in cold water.. no Issues to date..

Re: Question for HS - RGBM users

I pad the stops about half the time, if someone else in the team has more time left. I always dive on RBGM setting 2 on my HS and no issues to date.

Re: Question for HS - RGBM users

I have never padded my shallow stops.
I always dive cf-2 as almost all of my dives are cold water (Lake Superior)
I have been diving the HS-Explorer for 4 years and have had no problems.
My dive buddy has had the same experiance

Re: Question for HS - RGBM users

I've been padding the shallow stops on long deep dives. I've actually gotten bent a couple times on RGBM profiles until I started padding the shallow stops. I just received a new shearwater pursuit and really like the unit. I'll probabbly end up buying another and sell my two HS explorers.

Re: Question for HS - RGBM users

I have been diving my Explorer for over 2 years now. The standard setting for my trimix dives is CF01. However, I always run the dive plan with Vplanner (VPM/B +2) and do the last stops from 12m up according to that.

The short shallow stops in RGBM simply scare me. A little extra O2 at 6m never hurt (amost) anyone.

I confess. I use padding

Hi
I use VPMB+2 in deep long dives, and VR3 as Backup. Ussually doing both at the same time i clean the VR3 even if i have finnished my deco in tables.

As GKAM sais... O2 almost never hurt...

Two cents

Mikel

Re: Question for HS - RGBM users

I'm a padder. I've come up from some feeling not so hot, minor type 1 stuff (muscle soreness). OTOH, I was padding some of those times, not on others, so I don't think it much mattered either way. For me the more significant factor is either stress on the muscle (hauling the grapnel, or hanging on a bouncy line) or just long dives, 3-4 hours. I always pad those long dives too, often by a half hour or more, so I guess I don't know.

Re: Question for HS - RGBM users

I wind up padding when I stay in the water with my VR3 diving buddies while they work off the 20 or so extra minutes at 6M. But it's nice to know that I could get out of the water sooner if I needed to...
