Rix SA 6 Instructions.

I have recently purchased a Rix SA 6 compressor. Before I place it into service I wouldnt mind pulling it down and Oxygen cleaning it. I need a manual. If anyone has same, peterburns1@yahoo.com would like to hear from you! Although it seems a simple compressor, to be sure there is some foible I wont have noticed. Thanks to all repliers.

Re: Rix SA 6 Instructions.

I *think* I have the manual for a Rix SA 3, I'll dig through my Rix stuff today. The SA 3 is the SA 6's little brother. It would be too much work to scan but I could copy and mail it to you. PM me with your email and postal addresses if you think that may help.

Re: Rix SA 6 Instructions.

I have the PDF of the manual and have been trying to post it here for 2 days. Get a "Rebreatherworld database Error" message when I try to upload the attachment. Any ideas?

Dave

It is probably a file size issue; you could get the original poster's email address and send it to them off board.

Cheers,

Ben.

Re: Rix SA 6 Instructions.

I cannot upload the file you requested as the Rebreather World site is showing "The Rebreather World database has encountered a problem". (you should have had a manual when you bought the compressor). I have converted our original Word file into PDF to under the RBW file limit.

If you dont see posted in next few days email me either at the Rix Industries website under Contacts: "Breathing Air" section, or off post.

For special cleaning you will need some additional documentation. This series is now used for authenic air sampling and for atmospheric air sampling, with some modifications and with the additional cleaning procedure allows ambient air sampling to be taken of ambient air pollutents down to 3 ppb (parts be billion) some what greater than the PPM (parts per million) allowed in breathing air. Two things we will guarantee; is that the compressor will never add any pollutant to your gas by the compression process, nor will it ever contaminate the gas being processed. The only by-product from the compressor is pure distilled water, condenced into the two separator towers. Feel free to do a taste test of your compressors pure drinkable discharge.

For SCUBA breathing air you should also have been provided with a dehydrator chemical (molecular sieve) filter tower and cartridge to reduce the vapour dewpoint to breathing air standards. Iain Middlebrook.

Re: Rix SA 6 Instructions.

Pete.

As your pump in Aus is probably one of ours. Manual enclosed in PDF (less drawings) to reduce file size. Drawings file to follow from IPP manual. Should be same as your air compressor, but your serial number will confirm this.

Re: Rix SA 6 Instructions.

Pete.

Enclosed the drawings you need to sort out parts, its a 13 page cut and paste from our 80 page IPP "In Process Procedure" QA manual, but it should give you a start. Cannot post full documets due to the upload on the site and restriction, but Rebreather World is pretty generous with the file size already.

I also have a small head and piston maintenance PDF for these scuba compressors I will dig up and post later next week, in the mean time post up what you want and I dont mind info to the forum, at least then you know who to blame, and I get to agree with Dave (for a change) !! lol Iain.

Re: Rix SA 6 Instructions.

I imagine your plan to O2 clean the RIX SA-6 has something to do with a plan to use it to pump O2 or nitrox. If so, you should be aware that RIX strongly recommends AGAINST pumping either O2 or any pre-mixed nitrox thru this compressor. You should also take note that the heads are made of aluminum and the 3'rd stage cylinder is made of steel; not stainless. The reed valves have steel as well, not stainless. Therefore, even after O2-cleaning, this compressor is still NOT O2-compatible. In fact, it's highly IN-compatible. You can't even be entirely sure that grease from the piston rod connectors won't sling into the cylinders and work it's way up the cylinders into the compression area. This is not to say that it will blow-up the first time you pump O2 thru it; rather, it will blow up inevitably when your luck runs out. If you pump pre-mixed nitrox thru it it is apt to blow up in proportion to the mix. Not very likely if your mix is 22%; inevitable if it's 99%. But, this isn't really useful information. What you really want to know is where the danger point rises quickly between 32% and - say - 50%. Hard to tell, other than by experimentation; lots and lots of repeated trials. Please post your next-to-try mix on this forum BEFORE each experiment. We will learn a lot. Strongly recommend you start the compressor at a safe distance from the compressor and tanks. Otherwise, we will have to infer the result from your last posting. Good luck. Don't do it. Mark
