Unhappy Jetsam Baby Booster problem

Ok I have 240bar drive gas ,ip of the reg is 9.5 bar .
I have 50 bar in the O2 supply J ,I now have 50Bar in my 3l cylinder (after allowing to equalise ) turn on drive gas & ....... it sounds like a train chuffing at 1000mph on steroids ! actually about 5-6 chuffs a second rather than the usual long intervals .
Can anybody spot what I'm doing wrong because I am sure I normally do it like this .
TIA

I'm not sure if it is the same for the Baby Booster but i control the speed of my Maximator ROB with adjusting the drive-pressure or the rate of flow of the drive-air.
The ROB has a pressure ratio from drive-pressure to fill-pressure of 1:22.
The more i increase the drive-pressure the faster it runs depending on the fill-pressure.
For 50 bar fill-pressure the ROB works nice and slow with only around 2,5 bar drive-pressure.
If you can't adjust the drive-pressure that easily try to limit the flow of the drive-air by almost closing the cylinder supplying the drive-air.

Re: Jetsam Baby Booster problem

Whats got me is the fact that this is the same reg & ip pressure as I've used for the last 2 years . never needed to regulate the airflow

Re: Jetsam Baby Booster problem

It sounds to me that there is a problem with one of the cycling valves in the booster. A careful read might help diagnose where to look. If I get a chance today I will ponder the manual a few minutes.

Re: Jetsam Baby Booster problem

Uh, sounds like you blew your main seal. Specifically, the #20 O-ring that is just under the brass head that makes the high pressure seal. You will certainly feel air escaping when you put your hand nearby.

In a *clean* environment, unscrew the hex bolts and pull off the brass head carefully. You will see the main metal-to-metal Reed valve and that #20 O-ring below. It will be frayed if has blown. Replace it (you do have a replacement, right?). Wipe everything down and apply some O2-compatible lube, and put back together.

You are done.

Ermmm no to the first & ... No to the second
I have no leaks on the booster I have also disconected the supply end & opened the valve on my 3L & nothing comes backwards so the reed valves are not stuck open

No. 20's can be found at a well-stocked dive centers and some hardware stores. It is a not-uncommon O-ring. However, a #20 *Viton* O-ring (which you should be using since this is high pressure O2) might be harder to come by. In any case, I *have* used a standard buna O-ring before and it lasted exactly one boosting session.

Of course, I take no responsibility for any oxygen fires you may encounter...
