mini sport booster - can it be driven with higher than 10bar?

hello forum,

am after a low pressure compressor. i have read a lot of comments from fellow users on other threads, but was wondering and still a bit confused.

can the haskel mini sport booster be driven with higher than 10 bar? if so how high? has anyone tried it?

thanks

Re: mini sport booster - can it be driven with higher than 10bar?

Hi Spyros,

I have just ordered a 10 bars compressor today from here in Sweden. I'm also in the same place as you, but I decided driving the booster from a LP compressor is much better than from a tank which needs to be refilled just for the purpose. How are you driving the gas currently?

Best Regards. Wael

Re: mini sport booster - can it be driven with higher than 10bar?

Hey Wael,

i was using an s80 and then i bought a 34 liter tank, and filled that with air just to drive the haskel, but it used a lot of air, especially if trying to pump bail out tanks. its a pain to run to the shops to do that.

my aim is to buy a lp comp to run the haskel, keep the 34liter with air, just to do my mixes, and bail outs will be full. i mean how often do bail outs get empied, provided dives go ok?

but, my concern is if the comp can keep up with the booster, if it gives out 10 bar. that means that it will be working all the time to be able to pump into its bank. maybe one giving out 13 might be better, set the regulator to 10, and the comp would start at 11.

dont know. when are you expecting yours? are you planning to use filters? if yes, which and from where?

still expecting someone to answer the question though.

good luck mate.

I wouldn't like to do it long term but both my baby booster and sport have been over 10 bar probably to 11/12 I boost the pressure of my apeks reg by pressing the plunger though the diaphragm.

this is probably not good in any way

Re: mini sport booster - can it be driven with higher than 10bar?

Hi guys,

Spyros, I know what you mean and that's the main reason why I decided to get a compressor to drive gas and I have actually found the compressor even cheaper than buying a tank (As I bought it for 110 Euros, while 20 liters tank costs about 330 euros). I don't know what exactly would be effected if someone would higher up the drive gas pressure as it didn't say anywhere on the spec. It just says that minimum should be 7 bars. Did you have any problems with the original pressure guage that came with the booster?

colinicky, I have ordered a MEEC oil-free 10 bars compressor with 16 liters tank. I'm uploading the picture of it here.

Best Regards. Wael

Re: mini sport booster - can it be driven with higher than 10bar?

Hi,

Well, I thought of getting the Dewalt but the problem is that I couldn't find a dealer anywhere in this region and the second problem is with the electricity voltage as if I got it from the US then it would be 110V and I would need a strong power converter to convert it to 220V as this is what we have in Sweden. Let me know what you will find from your end, Spyrus. Is the current voltage 220v or 110v in Cyprus?

Best Regards. Wael

Re: mini sport booster - can it be driven with higher than 10bar?

Wael,

thanks for bringing that up. we have 220 over too. i have a power converter for working my ultrasonic cleaner. i'll have to ask specifically the dealer to that.

am thinking now. why should there be a dealer in Cyprus if everybody uses 220v and its products are 120? hmm, i'll let you know .curious now.
