![]() ![]() | Re: What grade of O2 do you use? Use aviator grade. Get it at the local welding supply store. H cylinder costs about $17 bucks minus cylinder rental. Aviator grade is the most pure, i think, and dry. Wouldn't use any other, the price is right. |

This year they switched me over to GMP claiming they only now sell Medical O2 to Doctor's Offices, Hospitals, and Nursing Homes. They said even if I got an Rx they couldn't sell it to me. Some type of Government Regulation now being enforced was the explanation I got. After a long conversation with their head of QC he explained that the only difference between the Medical O2 & GMP was the paint job on the bottles as far as the way the cylinders are handled & filled. They go down the same line. I haven't had any issues using it. I figured since it wasn't "Medical" grade that it would be a little cheaper. Some how they managed to increase the price a little. ![]() I'm now paying about $24.00 US for a cylinder plus an annual fee of $40.00 for bottle rental. What's really taking a hike is the He. Used to be $60.00 a bottle. My last load was $74.00. Glad I'm no longer filling double 120's! ![]() Richie |

I know this has been discussed to death but when I asked my Praxair guy about purity he laughed. It all comes out of the same tank. Some has higher purity requirements such as welding grade must be very pure, but aviatorsz grade is rated for low dew point not any more pure than USP or medical grade. Bottom line is it's all the same.I use Aviators Breathing O2.....It's the most pure, dry and comes in a 250bar G size tank. Lance

| New Member ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: What grade of O2 do you use? I use Air Product's diving grade. In the UK the difference between the grades is mostly down to the tracability paperwork that follows it about. I asked and was told it all comes out of the same tank, so I asked about filling processes and was told there was only one and it was fully automatic. Apparantly it is more expensive to have two processes and control how you switch between them than just have one blanket set of rules. ISO9000 wins again.
