Re: "Breaking virginity in Boosting!"

Hi Spyros, Just found your post,
Glad to see your still alive! O2 to drive with? Phew!
I have some recomendations not mentioned by others.
  1. Chain your HP cylinders to the wall. If a valve gets knocked off (from the tank falling over) with even 290 PSI in the tank it will blow a hole in the side of your house like a torpedo through a hull of a ship. P.S. can send you a picture if you don't believe.
  2. Are you really blending in your house? You want to reconsider moving that process out the shop or garage. It's not often things go south but when they do it's big and fast.
  3. Go down to the local hardware store and get a sturdy tool box and line it with hard foam. Use it to transport and store your booster. I'd hate to see it fall on the floor and snap a fitting.
Have fun
HB

Wheres the one with the guy trying to twist the valve off a o2 tank when it explodes? I cant find it again. There is a good pic of his hand lying on the floor where it got blown off.

OK third times a charm.
I sent this three times. I hope it shows up.
Sorry Spyros about the name. Let me introduce myself.
I'm Glen Scott
We have talked before over the board on cleaning solutions for loops.

Re: advice on Blending. Hmm. Take a course. I'm a huge fan of training. Spend some time hanging around a dive shop where there is a good blender and see what he/she does. How he sets up his tanks, the order in which to fill, remixing, top ups? Lack of clutter? How clean is his blending staition? GMP makes good little blending program. I also use an old "Wave Deco" program for Dos that has a simple blending program built in.
  1. If you can't get to a place that teaches blending start with "Mixed Gas Diving" by Tom Mount. I think every tech diver should read this IMHO!
  2. Then there is the "Oxygen Hackers Handbook" from Airspeed Press.
  3. Last but not least is Bill Nadeau's Blending Manual that was adopted by IANTD. All excellent resources.
  4. You can get some info from Global Manufactering about O2 cleaning. I believe they might still teach a course at DEMA too. Check their web site. Once you really understand what O2 clean means then you will awaken.
Below are a few links about this subject we were discussing.

Just search the internet for "Cylinder Explosions" /photos. You will get a whole slug of hits. I won't send all of them to you as I have dial-up and it's a waste of bandwidth.
