![]() | Re: Do I need a booster? No you do not need one, you might want one. I have a 30 ltr cylinder of oxygen (200 bar). 6 cubic meter. I decant oxygen in my 3 ltr. For the majority of my dives, I accept to start with minimum 100 bar (inboard oxygen is not part of my bail out plan !). So indeed I loose 3 cubic meter out of the 6. I pay twice the price for oxygen. In Belgium, 6 cubic meter of oxygen is only 20 EUR !!! Let's say I can get a booster for 1500 EUR. Moneywise, I have to make around 3000 dives to get my money back Regarding money, it is not interesting. Of course, it is a nice toy I am sure of that.Another point is safety ... but are you really top up your cylinder after every single dives or wait 2 or 3 dives Regards Bruno |

I run a J of 02 a 15 of 18/45 a 12 of 18/45. a 300bar 12 of 10/70. Using the booster to blend 10/70 and 18/45 and air I can get a mix for any dive and fill my dills to 230 for multi day gigs. When you work out the cost saving on the mix things start to make sense a lot faster. That said its still a luxury not a necessity. ATB Mark Chase

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Do I need a booster? Boosters are a non essential luxury but so is air con in a car and i wouldn't be without that either. Mark,If you can afford it do it but get a paint compressor to run the booster with because they use a shed load of drive gas. I am running a 10bar paint compressor through a oil and water filter. Its a slow but relentless way to pump from low pressure to high pressure. I just blew all my 02 cylinders to 220 bar from less than 90bar in my J. I think I ended with 70bar and four full 3ltrs. Had I used bottled gas to drive the booster that would probably have cost me 60ltrs of drive gas. (ie 4X 15ltrs blown to 230bar) ATB Mark Chase I'm in the process of aquiring a booster. I'm also thinking about a compressor. Any recommendations for paint compressors?? Cheers, Pete

Mark, I am running a Clarke Rebel 30 10bar 25ltr unit (Machine Mart) as a compromise between size power and efficiency. A bigger 50ltr reservoir would be nice but I don't have the space.I'm in the process of aquiring a booster. I'm also thinking about a compressor. Any recommendations for paint compressors?? Cheers, Pete It cost about £150 ATB Mark
