Re: Booster - ing safe in small rooms?

hello guys,

thanks for the replies. to be honest i got this curious and worried after i have read the book.( oxyhacker) .

It's scary to the potential hazards that might occur if something is to go wrong. especially after seeing the pictures on the book. i got all four books that they got, found it quite informative.

the reason of asking all this is because i am worried if case of something happening, i keep my stuff in a tight space, wish i had a big normal room, but hey, i am sure you all agree that once you start with Rebreather diving you end up with so much stuff...( i am sure our wives could take a very very good participation in this discussion )

SO...do you think that it would be wiser to bring the whole thing out int he open when to boost and then take it back? ( i mean all the unit, booster, cylinders, whips, drive cylinder, O2 and Rebreather cylinders?)

Thanks guys. very informative.

P.S that is one amazing pic....it would scare me to enter that room

cheers

Spyros

That's what I do but I fill my Rebreather tanks from an AL80, not from bigger storage tanks, so it's easy to handle.

Re: Booster - ing safe in small rooms?

There are definite risks when filling & boosting O2...

It's kind of like when you go in for minor surgery here in the U.S. they have to tell you all the possible horrible things that could happen, then make you sign a release that you won't sue, should one of these things happen. As long as you are using a reputable surgeon and are at a decent facility, chances are very remote that one of these things will actually happen....

The same is true of Gas Blending, especially if you are in control of all of the elements involved. Your tanks, hoses, booster, the speed at which you are filling, etc. Do it properly and the risk of a catastrophic event is extremely remote.

That being said, if it isn't a huge hassle to do it where you feel more comfortable blending....Take it outside to reduce your anxiety level.

cheers to all and you richie for the advice.

i'll have that in mind when i do it. you are right, better to have some extra work done, and low anxiety rather than do it and untill evreything is finished to have your heart pumping at 180 per minute.

P.S another consern is the house...in case of a catastrophic even, or a blow out, in a small room, the roof will disappear. if you don't die from that, then you'll definetely die from the wife...

take care guys.
