| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Chinese O2 valves..... Maybe CGA540? I went shopping today, I was looking for an oxygen supplier here in Beijing, and it turns out there are loads of them. There is a big Praxair plant here and all around it are shops selling O2. So, apart from the deposit for the tank (800rmb) they would charge 35 - 50 rmb (£2.50 - 3.50) for a 40 litre cylinder fill to 150 bar of medical oxygen (so they say). Rental for the cylinder is 3 rmb a day, so £6 a month. Next needed to get sorted out with what I would need in the way of a whip to decant into my little O2 bottles. The valve on the cylinder turns out to be a male G5/8 thread, exactly the same as a DIN fitting on a reg, but with a bullnose fitting in the centre. I decided it was best to buy one to try and make sure I could figure out what it was. Also, they had a transfill whip. I paid 150 rmb (£10) for the pair. Checking these out, and spending the last couple of hours on the net, I think I have worked out that the fitting (called QF-2C here) is just about the same as the US CGA 540 fitting. In which case, I think that I would be OK. ![]() So question, How do I go about checking that this is the right fitting before I spend lots of real money on a blending whip? Does anyone know where I can get an adaptor to go from a scuba DIN to the CGA540 fitting? That way, I could just use a simple AP valve hose. Cheers Dave |

As I understand your needs: Here is the part that emulates the CGA 540 Valve: http://www.breathingair.com/product....,SQ6UJ9A000085 Couple it together with this: http://www.breathingair.com/product....,SQ6UJ9A0000DG Now your Chinese fill whip goes to the CGA 540 "valve simulator" which then feeds directly into your DIN cylinder valve. Breathing Air Systems is North America based. Maybe there are other possibilities for similar parts in different parts of the world. Hope it helps. Cheers, Jay

You can swap the ends round by just removing the thingy in the middle with an allan key (no need to swap the handwheels over). So I would have thought that that might do the job? Janos

| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Chinese O2 valves..... Maybe CGA540? - Yes They Are! Sorted now! I bought an AP valves decanting kit with Din to DIN and a couple of adaptors from Mike at Sub Aqua Products. Took them down to the random Oxygen shop in Beijing near the Praxair plant and they let me hook the whip up to a tank they had on a wagon outside. Fit perfectly, no leaks. Finaly pricing they gave me was 1000 rmb (£66) deposit to hire the cylinder or 900 rmb (£60) to buy it outright, then 50 rmb (£3.30) to refill to 150 bar. Very happy now, as i have alos a couple of pails of sorb I brought up form SIngapore. One problem... still no where to dive in the mainland... Bugger. That actually probably won't be a problem, as it seems in China, you can figure out most things if you find a way to ask, and i have my eye on a big lake in the mountains..... Anyway, basic point, China standard oxygen valve is the US CGA 540. Dave |
