![]() | Re: SA rix compressor and nitrox continuous blending Jean Michele, I have a Rix compressor, but did not purchase it new. I thought about purchasing a new one and spoke with Eric Zensius at Rix many times. His phone number can be obtained from the Rix website and his email address is below. I hope this information helps. Rix is located in California and they operate on Pacific Standard Time. Eric Zensius RIX Sales ezensius@rixindustries.com |

Thanks,Jean-michel and I are looking into the same thing so he's asked in Europe and I've asked in the US where we're are respectively currently located. I'm gonna use this compressor in the US at first and then relocate to France. Heck, we might end up being dive buddies and have 2 compressors and boosters Well, more is more is best or what? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: SA rix compressor and nitrox continuous blending Back when I was diving my Azimuth I used to continuous blend EAN ala oxyhacker with my little Bauer Puris. I measured the O2% in a plenum just before intake and back at the mixer and was careful never to let the O2 get over 40% and never had any problems. To be accurate you need to know your compressor and keep a close eye on the flow rates. My understanding is that Compressor overheating is more of an issue particularly with He?? YMMV Cheers |

![]() | Re: SA rix compressor and nitrox continuous blending Philippe, I bought a "new" military surplus unit from a local comperssor guy. He has sold used units in the past and I could have purchase a unit with low hours in the same configuration -- one with 6 hours and the other had 40 hours, but sold on my way to see him. He might be able to find a unit that meets your criteria. I wanted a new unit with auto drains & other options, but could have saved more money -- my knowledge of compressors is limited and local support was the key . PM me if you would like his contact information. Good luck with your search. Robert |

| PRISM diver ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: SA rix compressor and nitrox continuous blending Your using the wrong size o-ring. 012 is NOT the correct part for the 3rd plug. [...] If it's not an 012 what size is it? Re: your next reply, I've been getting my o-rings from MSC, http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/N2DRVS...00000008926292 And yes, it's the 3rd stage plug that wears out first. I'm tired of paying Rix $5.00 each for o-rings ...

Well its good news then as its $2.28 or 0.50 pence in Europe for the part not $5.00. However one other consideration is your "alternative supplier MSC Direct" may also be suppling you with the wrong shore hardness material as well. I guess they also don't have a QA system that can tell you the age, batch and compound reference so we cant judge them like with like. We have been here so many times when parts are substituted.Re: your next reply, I've been getting my o-rings from MSC, http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/N2DRVS...00000008926292 And yes, it's the 3rd stage plug that wears out first. I'm tired of paying Rix $5.00 each for o-rings ... Email me your mailing address and I will get a couple over to you FOC. once you check over that your 2nd stage discharge pressure is correct, try the aircraft quality rings and you can judge for yourself if the additional cost works. There is a tell tale yellow marker on the rings as the 2 on the left in the photo the two on the right are the (012 wrong rings) for comparison. One further point the SA units built in Europe do not use the viton rings but use a white specific Teflon ring as we tend to work at a higher pressure 300 to 350 barg, I can send these if you like. These must be off post and direct. Email me off post if you wish. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: SA rix compressor and nitrox continuous blending Philippe, You know it always amazes me that military surplus units always end up being sold by “the local compressor guy” as “Low Mileage” Now I’m not saying this compressor hasn’t done 6 hours or 40 hours but I can say that it’s the $20 hour meter that’s done the “genuine” six hours and that these little $20 hour meters are so easy replaceable, if indeed they were fitted in the first place for the military. If you have a photo of the block (shroud off) all angles, and a serial number I can at least tell you how old it is. Last time I did this it was a 20 year old re sprayed unit. Ebay is another place where military scrap is re painted “as new”. Look if your knowledge is limited the key as you put it is not in the guy selling, or the hour meter. But in life you get what you pay for and that goes for the equipment support and spares too. I bought a "new" military surplus unit from a local comperssor guy. He has sold used units in the past and I could have purchase a unit with low hours in the same configuration -- one with 6 hours and the other had 40 hours, but sold on my way to see him.
