Due to having a lot of DOT spec cylinders I dont think I will be very popular in dive shops.![]() |

And (knock on wood), I didn't do anything to prepare for the move. Not even a crate. I just drained the air, wrapped the cord and have the packers put it inside a carton box.

Is there any preparation that would be worth doing prior to shipment? Hi Gibbon, I would remove the Compressor Block oil and engine oil if petrol/diesel driven and label the compressor "No Oil". I would remove the Pressure Gauge fitting from the condensate tower and pack it in bubble wrap along with the two drain plugs and the filling whip and pack them with the manual and usage/service history on top of the Compressor block and pack the lot into a box or crate for protection. Regards

Ditto what Beanie said- Probably more divers per person than any other country and without fail everyone lives at lest 30miles from the nearest shop with a compressor...

![]() | Re: Preparing a compressor for shipment Due to relocation our Colrisub MCH6 is about to get put in a container for 2 maybe 3 months. One of the things we do with the MCH6s after testing and before shipping (that can be weeks to months) is to run them and drain all condensate from the towers. Then, pour about a cap full of oil into the inlet (of course you have to remove the filter) and run for only 10 seconds. That puts a light film of oil on the top end of the rings and keeps corrosion to a minimum. Is there any preparation that would be worth doing prior to shipment? Then, as already noted, drain the oil, pack the gauge with bubble wrap and remove the hose. Last edited by rcontrera : 18th March 2007 at 17:12. |
