| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Megalodon over Ouroboros I do get it, Mark, probably even got it before you did. While I won't go as far as saying they're all crap, I know they all have issues. They all have pros and cons in their conception and implementation. I knew that when I first started looking into Rebreather diving some years ago, almost immediately. I tracked down as many divers diving RBs as I could early on and bugged them about their rigs to a straight evaluation. It was eye-opening and at times frustrating. Same as some of your posts have been, and those of others here and on varous boards and lists. Good thing is that theses days problems with units are coming out into the open rather quickly, as do tips for handling the situations and even fixes. One can only hope that the future in that respect will be a bit brighter, maybe even as bright as Alex leads us to believe it will be. Quite a while ago when somebody was waffling on and on about building a redundant Twinspiration I wondered out loud if that would be half or twice as dangerous a rig to dive. Adjusted to the slightly off the topic turn the discussion has taken, I wonder if two different RBs are twice as reliable or twice as much a pita to deal with? ![]() Because as Phi and Dave already know, one Rebreather just doesn't do, certainly not all. Having said that, units like the Meg, PRISM, KISS or modded APs probably all make pretty decent allround RBs with plenty of versatility. The Boris, Cis and MK are limited by their sheer size and weight that makes their capabilities seem unlimited. The little Sport Kiss is the opposite, unlimited with small size and light weight but seems limited in its capabilities ... so it should combine nicely with one of the other three. ![]() Anyway, back on track, Meg vs Boris: Soren, have a look at the dives that Cedric Verdier and DrMike have done. Cedric on a Meg, Mike on a Boris, they've been pushing limits together so obviously either unit can go very far and come back. Either unit is very capable, probably much more capable than most divers are. The decision probably comes down to practical considerations (location, travel needs, expense, CE etc) and personal preference (counterlung location, desired features and such).

This thread has been very interesting so far, and I feel I've got my answers. Thanks.. Reading Cedric's article was initially the start of this thread, as I felt I didn't come across so many Boris threads as others. I find both units very interesting and for my future needs I'm up for the Meg. However I'm still waiting on CE, Apecs III and European service/repair opportunity.Soren |

| Nefarious Activist Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Megalodon over Ouroboros This is one of the major "gotchas" that Delta-P has right now and it makes their kit less desireable, no matter if its the VR3 or the Boris. If they want to be serious about America, they need a repair depot HERE that can perform the service HERE. I think you'll find that's also a consideration for manufacturers with a European market who don't have a European presence too.![]() Ian |

Granted it isn't commercially available just yet and yes it was tested at 100m. The results were great and fitted the big stuff being done very well.

That's the problem with a demanding job, you don't have time to keep current of what really matters Tom F.
