![]() | Re: Rebreather for Travelling I always stick around and wait for TSA to go through my bags. I just hang out, talk with the officers and explain that it's life support equipment for diving. If I am traveling with bottles, I always refer to them as bottles, never tanks. I think I may try the carry on idea, though --a CK really can fit in the overhead? Jeff

| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Rebreather for Travelling does anyone carryon their evolution? We always take the head and handsets as carry-on. Airlines have started weighing hand luggage in Europe. Some airlines allow only as little as 5 kg. Taking the entire unit as carry-on, even if it would fit size wise, creates the risk of having to repack last minute at check-in because of being over the weight limit. I’d rather pack it properly at home with lots of bubble plastic. We all use travelframes and they survived over 8 trips to Egypt, Singapore, … wrapped in bubble plastic inside a soft bag.

![]() | Re: Rebreather for Travelling The Optima has a travel bag that is specifically made for it by Dive Rite. Fits in overhead, and it is really slick. It is real neat and about the cost of a good carry on bag, you put your tanks in you other baggage and I think your harness to. But the head and rest is up with you in the cab. It was new at DEMA this year.Mike ![]() |
