Re: CO2 monitor - accuracy

The Infinito's electronics came from England and the CO2 monitor was within the specs that EN14143 required. I'm quite sure that it will or is the same with the O.R. CO2 monitor.

Mind you, I've always been a supporter of BOVs, and one can argue that a well designed, properly packed scrubber is a better solution than any electronic gizmo warning of CO2 breakthrough. Same with temperature sensor based scrubber gauges. Or people arguing that manual setpoint control is better than a sophisticated, multi-solenoid electronic system, or multiple setpoint controllers.

Personally I believe any reasonably well working tool is a good thing, and when alarms go off I trust something's wrong, needs checking, needs action. If they tell me everything is just jolly I'm still cautious and don't blindly rely on it. Remember "Pyle's Reliable Rebreather Paradox" and don't become complacent.

That sounds really good! How easy would deco be with one of those?!

That's exactly how I see a CO2 monitor being beneficial - removing the uncertainty and allowing reaction before levels become incapacitating.
